In short, I wanted to be able to search for content discussed in Jared and Jensen’s vast archive of YouTube videos of their con panels without needing to watch every single video.
Because these are almost entirely auto-generated captions in a noisy environment, they often are going to be wrong or missing words. But, it’s better than nothing and many times now I’ve been able to track something down by searching these transcripts I would never have found otherwise.
I am current with downloads of the captions as of July 2026. There are 591 searchable transcripts currently.
On each transcript, there’s an embedded video and link to the YouTube video at the top of the page. In the case of gayled_it’s videos (her account was terminated) I have linked the relevant Google drive folder from the archive of her videos.
The numbers in the transcript text (for example 00:00:08,930 –> 00:00:28,098) are timestamps, so if you find a bit of text you want to go straight to in the video, you can use that for reference.
I used the YouTube playlist Every Jensen & Jared Panel (up to date 2026) by Emily Kitchen. For videos labeled with “Enhanced Edition”, these have full and complete correct captions from videos by YouTube channel DetailTilted.
I wrote up instructions/explainer for how I went about this on tumblr, see the post here (downloading subtitles from YouTube via yt-dlp) and here (some of the shell scripting for turning them into html files).
