Jp: I love sam's vulnerability.
What was hard about acting? JP: the juice is worth the squeeze, to quote @dicksp8jr @jarpad
J2 very aware that they set the tone on set and if they respect everyone, they will too
Jared brought his entire family to DC, and he's exhausted.
Fan: Do you stay in-character in between scenes? Jensen: If it's a really intense scene we try to stay in that state of mind.
Jared was supposed to play the bad guy in a movie, but the producers could still tell he was a nice guy so he wasn't cast.
Jensen: It's Star Wars Day, nerd. May the fourth be with you. C'mon!
Jared: The writers have been trying to show who Cas and Crowley are outside of their relationship w/ the bros.
The whole gang gets back together soon. Jared: And Dean's all like "Cas, look at me bitch" and I'm like "c'mon guys!"
Jared: Most difficult part of being an actor sometimes is time away from family and friends.
Jensen and Jared are very aware that they set the tone on the set, do they try to make it as upbeat and respectful as possible.
When Misha called Danneel to ask her to do TSA, Jen said "you know he's a twisted individual right?" D: Yeah, that's why I like him.
Jensen likes to golf-it’s a 4-5 hour walk through a well-manicured park where he gets to be by himself and not deal with anything
Jensen misses fishing but he says that’s okay cause he’s trading one kind of enjoyment for another
Jensen identifies with deans loyalty
Jared identifies with Jared's hair. Jensen: me too.
Jared to Jensen: You're totes cray cray Jensen: *facepalm*
Will the brothers pull through stronger? Jared: I hope so, what doesn't kill you makes you strong.
On SPN, what kills you…May bring you back to life, and then make you stronger." Jensen
Jensen: if the show would be coming to an end, that's when you should worry if the brothers are fighting
Jared: I don't like bullies
Jensen: unless its Misha then he loves to bully
Jared: but Misha's not a person sooooo
When Misha called Danneel to ask her to do TSA, Jen said "you know he's a twisted individual right?" D: Yeah, that's why I like him.
Danneel likes Misha because he is twisted, says Jensen. They are good friends & she likes doing comedy.
If it was not Misha in charge/directing the TSA shorts, Jensen would have told her NO WAY.
If it wasn't misha i would have told her not to do it whether she listen to me or not ….Jensen
Jensen: Since I'm away at work so much, she carries the load. She learned how to handle that, taught me.
Jensen: when things get overwhelming, I just have to take a time out. Learned that from my wife. She's single mom 5 days a week
Hobbies? Jared reading. Jensen golf.
If he gets free time, Jared likes to just read a book with a glass of wine. Jensen: Or a bottle.
Jensen about Jared: "He's not a bass. He's never been a bass."
Jensen's golf handicap? Clif: his swing haha pic.twitter.com/hEw9kRoKCq
Jared and Jensen insist that they were angels on the day they stopped Misha from being able to say his lines.
Fan: any messed up stories of your childhood, like Misha? Jared: would rather talk about Misha's messed up childhood
Jared: I don't have any messed up childhood stories. I went to therapy. I'd rather talk about Misha's messed up childhood
Jensen hates green beans.
Jared likes green beans.
Jensen: He's the green giant of course he likes green beans. LOL #spn
Jensen said he can't eat green beans; when he was a kid, was forced to eat them, so choked them down and of course threw up.
Jensen: I hate green beans Jared: I actually like them Jensen: Well you're the Jolly Green Giant, of course you do
Fan: fave thing to do with your kids? Jared: sleep! Shep is still so little. Tom is at a great age of discovery.
Jared’s favorite thing to do with his kids is sleep because it rarely happens.
Jared thrown Tom on the bed and when he does that to Shepard gen goes like uh uh
Jared took Thomas to the Nat’l History Museum awwwwwww.
Jensen: JJ is 11 months old. Feeding her and putting her to sleep, in a quiet room and she's looking up at him. He walks her to sleep
Jensen talking about his daughter JJ and loving the quiet moments with her, Jared gives Jensen a hug
Jared says he calls out American Airlines on Twitter because they’re bullies and a-s-s holes and yes, he spelled it out.
Characteristics they love and relate to about their characters –

Misha had the concierge protect his belongings
They also were going to have his wife change all his clocks, and Jared was going to sneak into his apt. and jack his thermostat down
Jensen is reading the list of pranks they had planned for Misha.
Day 6 their plan was "no pranks" which really freaked Misha out! #Supernatural
Jensen said they will do a movie called "My Bloody Friday the 13th" pic.twitter.com/a5BfIHqSqE
J2 wants to spend time doing SPN and with their family so they don't really want to do movies in between their very short breaks
Jensen is willing to entertain the idea of a musical episode but doesn’t see how it could practically happen.
J2 would maybe consider a musical episode but it'd have to be for a very good reason and REALLY well written!
Jared: I'm amazing at super smash brothers. Jensen: lol
Jared has said he's an amazing Super Smash Bros player! Pikachu is his character of choice!
A fan gives Jensen her sobriety chip and thanks spn for saving her life. (hug from Jensen)

Both agree positive fan feedback helps them get through tough days & difficult times. Jared added "this too shall pass" as mantra
Fan: do you have any hidden talents?
Jensen: nope. You guys know 'em all. #Supernatural
Jared's go-to character in Super Smash Bros.: Pikachu. HA
Jared's an avid video gamer: jokes if told to grab what he needed to save his life, it would be the game controllers!
Jared: As actors, it's not our job to "pontificate" about scripts. We make it work.
Jared: I wouldn't encourage it if my kids wanted to act. They'd need to make it clear its not for fame.
Jared definitely would not encourage his kids to join showbiz.
If Jared's kids wanted to act he would make sure they didn't want fame and money but needed it in their souls. #Supernatural
Jensen wouldn’t encourage it either but if his kids really want to act, he won’t stop them.
Jensen noted only 1% of SAG actors actually are steadily working; it's a hard career he wouldn't advise. But if true desire, bless.
Jared: When a kid wants to get a dog, you make them walk a dog-less leash for a year. Jensen: A YEAR???!!!

Jensen talked about the responsibility that he and Jared feel for maintaining ‘quality control’ of the Show – they don’t need to have producer credits, they just care that much about Supernatural after all this time, and everyone involved with the Show knows it. It sounds like the rest of the cast and crew, as well as the writers and producers “down south” in LA, trust Jared and Jensen to make some decisions that always have the best interest of the Show in mind. Jensen also talked a bit, both in the meet and greet and in the afternoon panel, about busting Misha when he directed – in fact, they apparently went so far that they both apologized to him the next day. In the panel, Jensen pulled out his phone and read off some of the pranks that he and Jared had planned out (which are a real feat of creative evil genius, btw. They could teach the Winchesters a thing or two about pranking!) In the meet and greet, he confessed to one entire day of not letting Misha get any lines out. Every time the coverage was on Misha above the waist, and Jared and Jensen were on the other side, Jared’s foot would be in Misha’s crotch, making it impossible for him not to crack. Even the crew got in on the tormenting – the camera operator at one point started doing hip thrusts while filming. Jensen helpfully jumped up to demonstrate said hip thrusts.
When everyone eventually recovered the power of speech, talk turned to the Show. What storylines would Jensen still like to see play out for Dean? Jensen said that of course he wishes John could come back, but allowed that’s probably unlikely. He also thought the Benny and Purgatory story line wasn’t thoroughly played out, and had more potential. We agree on both counts.
A fan asked whether it was harder to play Dean as a hero or as the darker character he’s been this season. Jensen said that what’s actually most difficult is to play both sides of Dean and yet maintain continuity so that you’re still playing the same character. Another question was about Sam and Dean’s relationship, and whether it was threatened in S9. Jensen said no, not threatened – but much like when Sam was addicted to the demon blood and Dean wanted to protect him, right now Sam is worried about Dean and protective. It’s not about whether the brothers love each other, but more about Sam’s concern, and whether Sam will have to step in and pull his brother back.
Lynn: Is Dean feeling okay about what Sam said to him earlier this season, then? About not being brothers and about Dean being selfish and only saving Sam because he didn’t want to be alone?
Jensen: No, I don’t think he’s over it, it’s still there, like a gaping wound. I think it plays into his decisions – like he has nothing left to lose… Did you, as an actor, feel satisfied with what you got to play out this season, now that you’ve completed filming?
Jensen: Well, let me say this. I got to the last script, and just went ‘Oh. Wow. Oh wow. They went there.’ And that’s not something I often say.
Jensen: (with a definite smirk) So…. Enjoy!
Re: wine business Twitter (and email) @FangasmSPN : He said 'you have to ask Jared – he tells me what to do and I do it!" Said with a smile 🙂

Jensen’s Q and A was in the afternoon, and after not having had the time to ask Jared anything, I was armed and ready with my Jensen question. He walked in, looking relaxed – and yes, very stunning. He took questions right away. The first inquired about the difference between playing hero Dean and a darker side of Dean (like when influenced by the Mark of Cain). It seems he thinks both are interesting, and the key is to find the common denominator in both of those versions, so Dean is still Dean regardless of what else is surfacing.
Another question was asked regarding the evolution of the Mark of Cain storyline (that for fans it was sometimes hard to wait for the visible signs of its progression), and if Jensen himself thought it was explored to a desirable extent. Jensen responded that these last few episodes will really delve into its effects, so that movement is definitely coming.
More questions were asked continuing on the MOC storyline, and Jensen likened the desire for power that was stemming from the Mark analogous to a heroin addiction in that it manifested itself in an overwhelming craving that once felt, was extremely difficult to conquer.
A fan asked what storyline hasn’t been done that Jensen would like to see explored. Jensen would enjoy a plot about John (and have him somehow return), but the odds of that happening aren’t very good. I loved that Jensen inquired to the same fan, asking her opinion on what storyline she wanted to see. He did that in the panel (regarding favorite episodes) as well.
Keeping on the topic of John, a fan asked whether Dean eventually becoming like his father would be a tragedy in Dean’s eyes. The gist of the answer was that early on in the series, Dean had idolized his dad, but later came to realize that his father was only human. Dean had to come to terms with his dad giving his life for the cause (and for his son). Ultimately, Dean hadn’t resented his dad for anything, so even if he did eventually become like his father, the lack of resentment precluded it from being a tragedy in Dean’s eyes.
Someone was curious about what question Jensen had never been asked in an interview that he wished he had been asked. Jensen joked that there were some questions he has been asked that he wishes he hadn’t. One came to mind regarding an unanswerable question about his family.
I asked if Jensen could say anything about where the brothers’ relationship is headed in the last remaining episodes. It seems the central issue will be how far Dean will be willing to go with the Mark, and how much it will worry Sam. Also, just as Dean was troubled by not being able to protect his brother in Season Four (regarding the demon blood), and ended up having to put him on lock down – even though he never stopped loving him, Sam will feel the same way, and we’ll see that play out. To digress, this makes me very excited for the season finale. One more thing that makes me excited is Jensen’s own response after reading the season finale script. I won’t quote it, but it was surprised.
It was asked where Dean is at regarding Sam’s accusations in “The Purge,” and it was surmised that it probably initially played a role in Dean’s actions regarding the MOC, and that it may be addressed again in upcoming episodes.
Someone asked about Jensen letting the work go at the end of the day, or if he takes Dean home with him. Jensen sometimes unconsciously says something reminiscent of Dean, but it’s more often just feeling fatigue at the end of the day – be it from long working hours, shooting several action scenes, or from emotionally weighty material.
Someone inquired about his daughter, and Jensen graciously showed us a picture of J.J. on his phone, walking around the room so everyone could see it. He was also happy to share some short, cute stories about her with us.
A fan praised Jensen’s ability to capture the emotional tone of a scene, and Jensen discussed finding just the right nuances (and how Kim Manners would look for that) during filming. Sometimes Jared and Jensen will find it after a few takes, and will roll again to capture the extra look, beat, or whatever it is that makes the scene come alive.
The last question inquired about antics on set with Misha, (that a certain author was privy to). Jensen gave us the rundown on what happened, which was basically messing with Misha so much that he couldn’t get any of his dialogue out.
With that, Jensen thanked us and left the room. He was forthcoming and earnest in his answers, and I must say, the direct eye contact with you the whole time he answers your question is very nice.

Okay so Jared is legitimately just a giant ray of sunshine and there’s no way to ever look at him and NOT be smiling. There’s just no way. So while we were all smiling stupidly at said giant ray of sunshine, here’s some overviews of the things he told us. I’ll post some of the more personal bits about Kiki and I and Jared at the meet and greet later.
Genevieve and the kids were in DC with him and they went to the zoo. He talked a lot about the kids in the beginning and the things that Thomas was doing that was uber adorable for a child his age including refusing to believe that a Woolly Mammoth wasn’t just an “elephant”. Shepherd eats like Jared already and is growing up body wise to be his twin.
After we talked about the kids for a little bit, Jared got asked about the New York Times article and said that he hoped everyone realized he and Jensen were kidding when they were joking around about the show being all about the hair and “400 pounds of dude” because he realized some people might not get it. We all laughed hard at that because who WOULDN’T get it?
He said he used to want to have a big movie career but now he’s older and says he would be proud to say that Supernatural was his last acting job if he never worked another day once SPN ends because this is his and Jensen’s legacy. And they’re proud of it. We talked about how it’s the fans that make the show.

Jared was his usual bubbly self. He seems to like to chat for a while before taking questions. He talked about the fun activities he did with Gen and his boys after coming to D.C. a bit early. He was asked about his kids, and he told us some cute stories, including Tom’s adorable mispronunciations and love of the movie Frozen, and Shep’s insatiable hunger, because apparently, he’s already built like his daddy.
It was very endearing that any time someone said something about parenting that Jared didn’t want to hear (it doesn’t get easier, teens want nothing to do with their parents), Jared would put his hands over his hears and sing LaLaLaLa to escape from listening (and that doesn’t count as a direct quote!). It made us laugh every time he did it.
A question was asked, in light of the recent NY Times article, what Jared thought the secret of Supernatural lasting for so long was, and Jared credited the fans’ support and investment with the show’s unusual longevity, as well as the theme of the human struggle in the backdrop of a supernatural world. He and Jensen weren’t sure how the article would be perceived because they were both joking when being interviewed, and to their surprise, the writer printed some of the jokes, but he was assured by us that the article was received very well by fans.
Jared is always vocal about his appreciation of the fans, and he was here as well, marveling at how rare such a reciprocal relationship between fans and those that make the show (writers, producers, actors and crew) is, and how wonderful it’s been.
Someone asked about nightmare auditions, and Jared has had a bunch, including having to read for a part when the casting people were distracted. The gist of the answer was the whole process is difficult, often because of logistics, but also because in reality, an actor is being judged on the spot, which always feels uncomfortable.
Jared also spoke eloquently of how if his legacy as an actor was Supernatural (versus big movies, awards, or things of that nature), then he would be content and proud. After 10 years of making fans happy, I can safely say I think everyone in that room agreed.
Speaking of movies, the subject of a Supernatural movie was brought up. It sounds like something that could very well be brought to fruition, which is very exciting. The characters and story would be able to be explored in a unique way, so we’ll have to wait for word on that.
It was asked if Jared would lend his vocals to an upcoming friend’s album. This may actually come to pass, so from the sound of it, some exciting things may be on the horizon for Supernatural fans. So way too soon, Jared thanked us and left the room, blowing us kisses on his way out.
Jensen M&G.
The room we were in had a large whiteboard at the front, so when he came in he picked up a marker and said that he felt like he was getting ready to teach a class. Then he said he’d never had the college experience and asked if anyone else had never been to college. Then the girl behind me mentioned that we had, in fact, been talking about Jell-O wrestling in college (apparently there is gelatin made specifically for wrestling that doesn’t require it to be kept cold, ha). So, then he said that he really feels like he missed out on college life.
The first question was a comment about how he’s so good at doing the “dark” parts of Dean’s character referencing the Alistair torture scene. Then she brought up the Mark of Cain and asked if it was only the mark or if it was tapping into a dark part of Dean’s soul that exists deep down (or I may be merging two questions, sorry). What I got out of his answer is that he’s treating the mark of Cain and the First Blade like “heroin” (his word) and that he’s just addicted to the feeling of power. So, to me, it’s not accessing some deep darkness in Dean.
Then someone complimented his acting, particularly the nuanced performances he gives and he thanked us for noticing (we laughed, so he wasn’t being arrogant). He told a story about how Kim Manners is the one who taught him and Jared that what’s not on the pages of a script is the most important part.
Mark of Cain and if Dean and Sam will get over their fight. He said that as long as there is more show we can assume the fights will be resolved since they would have to work together for a season. He said if the show was coming to an end and they were still fighting, that’s when we should be concerned. Someone asked about the finale and he said his reaction was “Oh, wow.” He implied that that is actually a big reaction for him because usually he’s all like, “Yeah, okay.” But when he read 9×23 he was like, we’re going there—“Damn.” So, make of that what you will. Someone asked about storylines that haven’t been done that he’d like to see—and he figured everything had been covered referencing the fact that Dean’s big love story was Lisa and the Benny/Purgatory storyline was a favorite. He said he would like to see a reunion or something with John Winchester, although he’s knows that’s not possible. Someone asked about how he’s said before that Dean is turning into John and if he thought that was actually a tragic outcome for the character. My memory is hazy on his answer. I think it was something about how maybe he’ll be able to escape it one day or get past it—not sure.
As for questions not about the show, someone asked if he had anymore plans to sing and he said no and gave the usual answer about how he’s an actor not a singer and he respects his musician friends. Someone (maybe me) might have mentioned a Christmas album and he denied he had one but a friend did. And he didn’t answer one way or the other about whether he was really going to sing on it. I assume we’ll leave that persuading up to Jason Manns.
Someone asked why he and Jared aren’t producers on the show and he said they don’t need to be because they already have a lot of creative control over the show since there isn’t an executive producer who works on set in Vancouver. Also most actors who have producer credits have them so they can get pay raises when the actor budget tops out.
Someone asked if there was a question he’d never been asked that he wanted to be asked. He couldn’t think of an answer to that, but he said there had been some he wished he hadn’t been asked. He gave an example of a recent interview he did for a magazine (he didn’t name the publication, but he implied it was not US-based) and they asked him if he loved his wife or daughter more. He basically said he wouldn’t have one without the other and wouldn’t know what to do with one without the other, so he loves them both. Ha.
Um…someone asked if he had pictures of himself and JJ on his phone he could show us but he was nice enough to show his screensaver which was a picture of JJ.
So he picked me and said it had to be good. The girl behind me said “Can I go to the bathroom?” and I turned to look at her to laugh, and he said, “Okay, boxers or briefs,” like a joke “good” question. And for some reason as I turned back around, my mouth did not consult my brain and I said, “Neither, right?” I wish I had paid more attention to his reaction, but I don’t think he really had one and I hope it was because he didn’t hear me over the laughter from the room at his comment. Anyway.
I told him it wasn’t a good question, just to cover my ass, ha, and told him we had seen SE Hinton’s tweets about how J2M were misbehaving on set during the upcoming scenes with the hugs. He admitted that he and Jared were awful to Misha that day. He said Misha didn’t have a single take when Jared’s foot wasn’t on his balls and that even the cameraman got in on it and was doing pelvic thrusts at him. Jensen demonstrated and it was lovely. Ha. He said that as the day wore on he could tell that Misha’s laughter was kind of turning into anger. So the next day he and Jared talked and realized they had taken it a little too far and apologized to him. He also said that if there’s a scene where Misha seems “off” that’s probably why.
I also suspect that’s why Jensen mentioned in his afternoon panel that he and Jared are saints and Misha is just unprepared for his scenes.
EDIT:
scenethreeactone reminded me: This is a great summary; thanks for taking the time to write it out. It was such a wonderful experience. I’m kind of hazy on his answer to the John question too, but I do think he said that it could be seen as Dean becoming the man he always wanted to be. The only other thing I can think of that you didn’t mention is the story he told about JJ biting his finger. : )
The story about JJ biting his finger is that he would put his finger to her lips and she would make noise while he moved his finger back and forth to make the sound wiggle—you would know what I’m talking about if you saw it; it’s hard to describe with words. Anyway, he would do that, but now that she has teeth she will “lure him in” and then bite down on his finger. He says he tries not to react to it so that she won’t find it amusing.
He also told a story about how he tossed her over his head a few times right after she had finished eating and she just upchucked all over his face like something out of a movie. But what dad doesn’t have that experience? Ha.
EDIT 2: I remembered one more thing. Someone asked him about the winery he’s opening with Jared. Jensen said that Jared is handling everything and he basically stays out of it.
Jensen is in some east coast city with Danneel & JJ visiting with her family which was were he was before he came down to the Con on Sunday morning
