So Jared while talking about how he heard of Jensen through Riley Smith, said that Jensen was "great friends with Riley".
Jensen M&G
The woman started off by saying her teenaged daughter (also in the mng) complains about her crush on Jensen "Ew, he could be your son!" to which she replies"Or he could be your father!"
Then she went on to ask how it feels to be so lusted after by everyone from pre-teens to grandmothers and even his male co-stars. He was so incredibly uncomfortable and even said "I don't know how to answer that."
He did answer her, tho, talking about Hollywood and coming to understand that you can't take what people say at face value, or take rejection personally.
Fan asks Jensen if he would write an ep. He says that's a talent he doesn't possess. #PhxCon

Jensen MG Jensen came in and said hi, and asked if anyone hadn't done this before. There were a few first timers, so he said, quite seriously, "Here's how this works: I sit here for 30 minutes and you objectify me." That got a bit of a laugh from the fans.
The panel started off with a fan telling Jensen how much she enjoyed the last episode. She told him the fight scene with Cain was terrifying, and Jensen laughed and agreed that yes, it WAS terrifying. She also thanked him for the great emotional brothers scenes before and after the fight, and asked if he could share any stories from the ep (other than the stabbing story).
Before he started going into details he asked if everyone was caught up—he and Jared were very nice about making sure no one was spoiled if they didn’t want to be. One fan was relatively new—still watching S5. Jensen’s “Oh. Oh, honey. I apologize in advance for the roller coaster you’re about to go on!” got another laugh from all of us.
He gave us some great details about the fight—he did all of his own stunts except going through the plate glass, because that one is very difficult and can be dangerous if the person doing it isn’t experienced. I love seeing how animated and excited he gets talking about BTS details—it’s so obvious how much he loves every aspect of his job, and how much he enjoys what he does.
He also made sure to compliment Tim Odmundson and—spoilers, maybe?—to point out that we didn’t actually see Cain die. He’d love to have Tim back on the show at some point, in some way.
Jensen talking about how difficult it can be in Hollywood to recognize sincere compliments and praise, and to bounce back from devastatingly harsh criticism. He also had to learn to accept that sometimes being turned down for a job had less to do with him than what the casting director was looking for—as an example, he read with Sylvester Stallone for a part, and as he walked away heard Stallone say “too tall.”
Jensen was asked about his favorite ep to direct, which was a hard choice for him to make, but in the end he went with Weekend at Bobby’s. He talked a lot about how great it was to work with Jim Beaver and how accommodating and helpful he was. He also liked having a less active role in that ep, because it allowed him to really focus on the directing aspect and really enjoy it.
However, the ep he was most proud of directing was his season 10 ep, just because it was so incredibly challenging to direct while essentially building the character of demon!Dean from the ground up. He also talked about how important it is that the director and cast/crew get along well and respect each other. Without that, there’s simply no way a director can make his day.
That led into a discussion of the differences between working in television and doing movies. He went into quite a bit of detail, but said that ultimately he prefers the fast pace of TV over movies, where you can spend an entire day going through a single page of the script. While that gives the director more time to really study and refine every aspect, for Jensen it’s just too slow–he likes knocking out 8-9 pages a day filming television.
Another thing he really loves about TV is that the story is open ended. A movie has a set beginning, middle and end, but TV can just go on and on—like Supernatural.
One of my favorite stories Jensen told was about how they like to tease Robin, the person who has, from day one, been in charge of props. Among other things, he said that she has Dean’s amulet—the original—stored away somewhere that she won’t reveal. He mentions to her every once in awhile that when the show is over he’s taking it with him, and she always retorts that the show’s not over yet! I know he’s not a big fan of wearing the amulet while filming, but I truly love that he understands how important it is to the show and to fans.
He also talked about the prank Kim Manners pulled on him and Jared, and a few of the things they’ve done to various crew members (including poor Robin, who must deserve sainthood by this point lol). I love knowing how much they—cast and crew—love working on Supernatural and with each other, even after all these years.
Risti covered this in her write up, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE that Jensen wants the brothers to be on the same page again, that he wants them to be out of danger and able to start helping other people again. That's the heart of the show–saving people, hunting things, and as happy as he is to have them fighting for each other, he wants them to be whole again.
http://comehereyousexything.tumblr.com/post/112239976267/jared-jensen-m-g-report-phxcon Supernatural has been on the air for ten years now, and while season eleven has been confirmed we know the show won’t go on forever. Throughout the years you have had a front row seat to watching the story of Sam and Dean grow.
To Jared: How have you seen the character of Dean grow over the years, and what would you like to see in the character before the show ends.
To Jensen: How have you seen the character of Sam grow over the years, and what would you like to see in the character before the show ends.
Why ask them about each other’s characters? Well, for one, we all know that they are each other’s biggest fans. More than that, though, when given the opportunity they can show keep insight into the characters. Look at the recent quotes from Dylan about what Jared was able to tell him about Dean and Jensen’s portrayal of Dean. Yes, the person who knows Dean the best is Jensen, but Jensen is also so close to Dean that we’ve all seen the character bleed that can run through. I wanted to see what kind of observations they had about each other’s characters, because that’s what they’ve been able to observe versus pretty much live through over the years.
So just to be clear, I’m not a Sam Girl who just wanted to ask/force Jensen to talk about Sam, or vice versa. I made sure that both guys knew that I was asking the other the exact same question, but reversed.
Jared’s M&G came first.
When I told Jared I was planning on asking Jensen the same question, he of course claimed his answer would be better. “Oh wow,” he said, when I told him I wanted him to talk about how Dean has grown over the years. He began his answer by saying that, “as unromantic as it sounds”, is if they could go back and refilm the pilot today it would be be amazing. He talked about how the characters that were written in the pilot, the tears and the blood and the ups and downs that Sam and Dean have had in the 20 years leading up to the pilot, now they’ve actually had it. When Jared first met with Eric Kripke, his instinct was to play up the fantasticism (“Is that a word? Did I just pull a George Bush? Fantasticality?”) but Kripke told them to act as if the dying and the death that Sam and Dean had seen – and caused – was not that big a deal to Sam and Dean. That this is what they’re used to.
The firsthand experience that Dean (and Sam) were supposed to have had, no they’ve had it. He said that this is the nature of art and storytelling, that, “if only I knew then what I knew now”. He brought up a line in the song ‘Love Boat Captain’ by Pearl Jam – “the young can lose hope because they can’t see beyond today the wisdom that the old can’t give away”. Jared talked about how you can’t force the wisdom of experience onto people, that that’s the nature of it. So he’s seen over the years Dean become who he was supposed to be.
Jared’s answer didn’t really address the second part of my question, or really he didn’t talk about Dean as a character so much as Jensen’s performance as an actor over the years and how it improved as he got to know Dean inside out, but I didn’t really want to be the one asking a million follow up questions in a thirty minute Meet and Greet with twenty other people. So I left it, happy with the response that I got from Jared. For one, just asking that question was probably the most number of words I’ve ever managed to string together in a row in front of Jared. (For whatever reason, I’m the fandom anomaly where Jared makes me stutter and get crazy nervous and speechless, where as I find Jensen to be super easy to talk to and joke around with.)
So when I asked Jensen the question, I attempted to maybe emphasize the two parts of the question a little bit more. He joked about being “in the driver’s seat” rather than in the front row seat. Of course, when I tried to tell him that I had already asked Jared the same question, I tripped over my words and essentially told him I had already asked “Sam” the same question (quickly correcting myself and probably blushing terribly as I did).
Remember when I said that I hadn’t wanted to take up too much time in Jared’s M&G by getting him to expand his answer? Well, Jensen took my two-part question and gave me a five-part answer, and all I did was nod along in agreement with him right up until the very end of it. I essentially wrote out my notes like an essay outline immediately after the M&G (and have been going back and forth with my friends who were in the room for the last few days to get this accurate) because Jensen basically gave me his dissertation on the Sam, Jared’s portrayal of Sam, his changing role in the narrative structure of Supernatural and how it relates to Dean, and his hopes and dreams for the future. I’m not even lying. I want to say I was the third or fourth question Jensen answered, and afterwards I think he only answered another three or so questions, leaving a lot of people’s questions unanswered, which actually made me feel kind of bad. Except kind of not because his answer was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever heard.
Jensen began by talking about how Jared’s talent has grown increasingly since season one, and with that Sam has become a much more complex character because, in his opinion, Gilmore Girls wasn’t challenging him as an artist. He was 22 years old and he was still trying to figure out who he wanted to be as a man, and still trying to figure out what this job was that he was hired for and how to do it properly.
Jensen, even being four years older than him, was still trying to figure it out as well. Neither of them went to drama school, so this has all been things they’ve been learning on the job. Jensen has been able to watch him grow as an actor and in doing so his character has become so complex and nuanced. That’s one of the real treats he’s had over the past ten years – watching both the character of Sam grow and also the relationship Sam has with Jensen’s character Dean, and how much more intricate and layered that has become. That being said, he’s gotten to really play a lot of different versions of Sam whereas Dean’s mostly just been Dean – maybe an affected version of Dean but Dean nonetheless. Jensen went on to explain the different variations of Sam Jared’s played, saying he’s done a fabulous job with it, but to “never tell him I said that”.
All of this was said with clear love and admiration on Jensen’s face, as he confidently but carefully chose the words he used to describe Jared. While I won’t claim the above to be an exact word-for-word quote, it’s as close to it as I could manage.
Jensen went on to explain how for so many years the show was a Sam centric show – that the whole Supernatural universe revolved around Sam. Dean being the closest person to that epicenter, we see a lot of what is happening with Sam through Dean’s experiences. Jensen said in a way it’s all about Sam but it’s told through Dean’s perspective, “which a lot of times just meant I had to work more” (but he’s not mad about that).
Jensen thought we’d agree that after season five, it becomes a shared epicenter, and Dean becomes much more an actual part of the mythology of the show, and now Dean has almost become the focal point of the issue at hand, with the Mark and whether he’s going to go back to being a demon or not, so Sam’s kind of on the outside trying to facilitate anything he can to save his brother. Once that happens and once we see the fallout to the ending of this storyline, Jensen doesn’t know where it’s going to go. He trusts the writers that have taken them this far that they’ll come up with some massive cliffhanger at the end of this season that will stun us all, and how they’re probably going to kill off someone that we all love, “which sucks, because listen there are other characters that we could care less about why don’t you kill them off.”
He did assure us that this is just him speculating, and that we shouldn’t treat this as a spoiler. Then they’ll figure out a way to get us out of the gutter for season eleven. He doesn’t know whether it’ll be a Sam centric or a Dean centric season, but he is pretty sure that The Mark storyline will be over by next season. He did talk about how Carver is similar to Kripke in that neither of them like to leave a plot dangling for too long, and that he really appreciates how both of them answer the questions raised in the series rather than leaving them hanging (making a comparison to LOST.)
And then, just when I figured he was done with his answer….
Jensen went on to talk about how he likes when the brothers are fighting together against something as opposed to fighting for one another. So he’d like to see more of a teamed up thing than a wall between them thing, where something is not right between them. This is when I did pop in and mention how we haven’t seen this since the early seasons, and how it would be great to book end the series with this. Jensen agreed that it has been awhile, and that it would be great to get back to before the end. He said the writers know this, too, and that if and when we do see it that might be the signal that things are wrapping up for the show. This was a sentiment he would go on to talk more about during the main panel as well.
So in conclusion, I love the parallels between Jared and Jensen’s answers, and also the different ways they approached what was basically the same question. Both of them gave credit to the other and their growth as actors in contributing to the growth of their characters. Both of them speak with love and respect when talking about both Sam and Dean, SamandDean., and each other. Both of them are optimistic towards the future and not ready yet to let go of these characters now that they’ve really settled into them.
something fun from Jensen's mng: The Samulet is tucked away somewhere by Robin–Jensen says it's HIS when show is done. "Twitter wouldn’t let me tell the whole story—Robin won’t tell him where she hid it. Jensen reminds her periodically that when the show is over he’s taking it with him and she retorts “the show’s not over yet!”.
