Video or v2
The boys talking about how they had Wednesday off for Veteran’s Day/ Remembrance Day and watched the show together in Vancouver. They loved the episode.
Talked about how Misha was in fear of his life when he directed.
Fan thanks J2 and the family for helping her. Boys are glad she’s there with them.
Jensen talks about how Danneel told him not to look at the credit card statement because his Christmas present is going to be on there. Jensen: You’re already buying me something?? He says he’s one of the last minute shoppers – starts getting gifts when he has three days left lol.
Jared talks about a story he heard from another parent about how they ask their kids which present they want to give to someone less fortunate to pay it forward. Jared loves the idea, wants to do something similar with his kids, like maybe taking them to a store and having them pick out something they should get for someone less fortunate.
They talk about Tough Mudder, mention how they ended up carrying Osric through part of it. Demanded to know where the video is from Rob lol. They talked about how Tough Mudder was good incentive for them and how they worked out a lot for it. Jensen says they need different ideas for jerseys, such as NOT putting their names on the back. Jensen: Way to keep a low profile, Speight.
Fan to Jensen: What made you not wear a jacket today. Jensen. It’s 80 degrees outside?! Fan: We’re doing a bit! Jensen: I’m confused.
Jensen: Jared wore a jacket, I decided to go jacket off (comedy elbows.)
Fan asks about emotional episodes they had to prepare for? Jared brings up Sacrifice. Jensen says that it was hard wrapping his mind around Demon!Dean, since they filmed the third episode first (which he also directed) and he had to figure out how to play a character that was going to be introduced in eps 1 and 2 and play him first in ep 3 while directing.
Marriage advice? Jared jokes, don’t do it! Jensen: Complete capitulation. Write that down. Jared was given wedding advice by a friend to take a moment, just the two of you, to step back and enjoy everyone that’s there. Childhood friends, family, etc all in one place, like a really cool moment to see this is my life and now I’m starting another one. So take a moment.
Fan asks why Jensen doesn’t take more food, sometimes it looks like he is staring longingly at Jared’s plate? Jared: I just eat a lot. Jensen talks about how Jared works out hard and then eats whatever he wants. Jensen likes to sleep more lol. He says they were well fed and that it’s hard to bypass the dessert tray and sometimes he doesn’t.
They haven’t gotten their TCA surfboards yet.
Fan got back from deployment. Boys thank her for her service. She says she loves to cook, asks them what they like to cook? Jared says steak. Jensen: You don’t cook.  Jared excuses this by saying he needs fresh ingredients, and if you're only there one night a month, you can't cook. Jensen talks about how he’ll take home food from catering like chickens, etc, and chop them up and stir fry those. Fan: That’s not cooking! Jensen: There is a pan with fire under it – and that is cooking!  Before I got married I used to cook a lot more, but Danneel can make something out of any random ingredients.
Fan only on season 6. How should she prepare for coming seasons? Jared: You’re in season 6? Be patient with us next season. LOL. Says it’s a rough patch but a funny sort of juxtaposition. Jensen: Then season 8 takes another turn. Jared: What do you say to prepare somebody??
Fan: I’m part of the internet. Jared: You’re part of the internet? Are you Wi-Fi?  Question is –  Any milestones with the kids?
Jared:  My family is in Dallas now, they went to Dallas zoo. Tom is "helping" his brother.  Shep got his first real haircut, he was really good because he was holding an iPad lol.
Jensen: JJ had her first boxing match. Jensen says Tom and Shep were there, Jared wasn’t. Jensen was watching the kids. An older kid came up and pushed Shep, and I see JJ just kinda clock him! The kid went for JJ’s toy then, and she “starts throwing rights and lefts.” Jensen: Work the jab! The kid started throwing back, it was full on, Jensen and the other dad separated them. Jensen took her aside and said, we do not hit but I’m proud of you. He says JJ was fine and went back and started playing, the kid was crying for 20 minutes.
Jared talks about how JJ, Tom and Shep are in the same preschool. Tom is older and in a different class but they all have recess together. On the playground, JJ wanted to play with Tom but the other older kids didn’t want to play with a younger kid. JJ walked away crying but Tom went up to her and gave her a hug and said he would play with JJ. The teacher was telling Jared that she thought it was so sweet Tom was playing with JJ instead of his other friends.
Jensen M&G – Fangasm
Jensen brought his long-time manager, Lainie, to his meet and greet, introducing her as instrumental in the decisions he’s made in his career.
Jensen: She’s a big part of my life, and I wanted to show her the other big part of my life. You guys.
A fan asked if Jensen practiced his scenes as Dean in the mirror when he was directing, so he could see how it would look.
Jensen: (laughing) No, but I probably should.
He said he depends on the stand ins to block out the scene, so that by the time he goes in to do it, he has a good idea of how it will look. Having watched filming of Supernatural and some other shows, I’m always impressed by how hard working the stand ins are. It can take some time to get a scene blocked, so the stand ins are at the ready, stepping in and out, until they have it right. Only then do the actual actors come in to do the scene.
Another fan asked the question that I think was on all of our minds. What is Jensen’s take – and what is Dean’s take – on Amara?
Jensen: They’re very similar actually. Confusion, connection, whatever it is.
He said that they (TPTB) haven’t told him anything, and filming is not a lot farther ahead than we’ve seen, so as far as what he knows, it’s nothing that hasn’t played out.
Jensen: So I play it as confused because I’m confused. Which is probably a good thing.
I followed up with another question about Amara, this one about that scene in the last episode where Dean appears to be transfixed by Amara until Sam bursts in and Amara tosses him across the room like a ragdoll.
Me: Is that what pulled Dean out of it? The Darkness hurting his brother?
Jensen said yes, that’s what pulled him out of it, Sam being hurt. Not necessarily in the sense of it being foreshadowing – that it will be Sam being attacked that will wake Dean up – but in the sense of his brother being tossed across the room, that’s something that Dean knows what to do about, instantly.
Jensen: There’s another scene coming up where I’ll snap out of it again because of something else.
I had a chance to have a lovely chat with Bob Berens, who wrote that episode, Bob also said that yes, seeing Sam attacked was what snapped Dean out of it. Part of it was shame, too. Dean was ashamed for his brother to see him just standing there.
Jensen agreed. I guess that was fairly clear in the ending scene, where Dean reacts to Cas and Sam asking him what happened with a lot of bluster (and more than a little denial).
A fan said that she loved the Hillywood Show Supernatural Parody (who doesn’t? It’s already a staple at karaoke).
Jensen: (laughing) I know, I was jealous! Those girls are so talented.
Another fan made the mistake of mentioning the Vampire Diaries parody that Hillywood Show has done, and Jensen gasped.
Jensen: (in Dean voice, pointing to the door) Get out!
He also said that Hillywood has done the Supernatural parody live, and advised us all to go watch it on YouTube, because it’s awesome. Jensen is good PR, Hannah and Hilly! (And I totally agree with him)
Someone commented that Jensen seems a lot more comfortable with performing as a singer at the cons these days. He agreed that he’s not as nervous now.
Jensen: It’s like, you push the rockstar button. It’s like playing a part.
Somehow I don’t think everyone actually HAS a rockstar button, Jensen. But I’m damn glad that you do.
He also said that he now gets the appeal of the whole being a rockstar thing.
Jensen: At the concert at Vancon, I came offstage and I was like, ohhh, now I get it. It’s like a high.
For us too, Jensen. For us too.
In keeping with the theme of the weekend, he also talked about the evolution of the Saturday Night Special, and of Louden Swain. Jensen: I mean, Louden Swain used to be like playing at their LA shows. Now I’m expecting pyrotechnics!
Apparently Mark Sheppard is wanting Jensen to sing some Bad Company at an upcoming con. I think we have more Jensen Rockstar Ackles to look forward to, fandom!
Someone asked if he or Jared was the more sensitive. Jensen said that neither of them would probably consider themselves sensitive, but that Jared was probably more emotional. Jensen’s more calculating about showing emotion, or at least he tries not to be too emotional.
From the back of the room, his long-time manager snorted. Apparently he’s more emotional than he lets on, and one of the nicest guys she knows.
One of my favorite stories from this meet and greet was about the outtake video “The Other Way”. During the filming of ‘Baby’, it was often just him and Jared in the car, and this was one of those times.
Jensen: I had a line that was something like “There’s always another way,” but I messed up and said “There’s another way.” Jared and I, we know each other so well — not a lot of people can do this, but when we mess up, the other one just goes back and feeds the line again.
Apparently Jared threw him the line again, Jensen messed it up again – -and again – and then Jared was just like ok, now we’re gonna make it a bit.
Jensen: We do that a lot… It was during Richard’s episode, and he didn’t yell cut – probably because he was like, what are they doing?? – and then it was just us being stupid.
“That also happens a lot,” he added wryly.
Fan: Will we ever see another perspective of that 180? From outside the car?
Jensen said that Todd, his stunt double, was actually hiding in the front loader that you can see in the background, filming it. The Impala is quite heavy, especially in the front, so at first Jensen did more like a 270. Then he did the 180, and then insisted “I can do better!” So he ended up doing it three times.
That poor actress!
Hopefully we’ll see that footage too. Jensen said he’d try to get it. He was also surprised that they didn’t use Dean’s “Get outta my car!” (a Jensen ad lib, I believe) during the epic fight scene in the back of the Impala. Sometimes, he said, he loves all 55 minutes that they shoot of an episode, but something of course has to be cut.
He also gave us some background on the “cat scream” in Yellow Fever. Phil Sgriccia asked him to “go bigger”, and then to make it “comedic bigger”.
Jensen: I said, ‘okay, you asked for it!’
He smirked, then added, “Jared and I do that a lot.”
He jumped up to show us, which was quite a treat.
Apparently, when Phil came back, he was red faced from laughing so hard. He still asked for another take, and Jensen said he finally had to stop or he would have had no voice for the next scene, when Dean and Sam talk over the Impala (You know who does that? Crazy people!) If you watch that scene, his voice is extra deep – even for Dean.
Jensen says that the episode that Richard directed is one of the funniest they’ve ever done. The guest star was phenomenal, and Jensen was especially glad that Richard was directing.
Jensen: He knows when a joke lands, and he knows when it doesn’t. It’s like a Saturday Night Live episode if it turns out to be as funny as we think it is.

J2 crash the end of JDM’s panel.
On finding out spoilers early, Jensen says that he likes to stay in the dark for as long as he can like an audience member. Saves the excitement for when he reads the script instead of being told everything beforehand.
J2 didn’t know what John whispered to Dean in the hospital until later.
Jared talks about not liking being told he has to cry, he prefers that it comes naturally in the moment if it’s appropriate for the character and the scene.
Most emotional scene? Jared jokes that nutcracker made him cry. Jensen says he was crying of laughter. Jensen said that when Sam died in s2 and he had to talk to his body was hard, as well as when he tells Sam about his time in Hell. Had to take a walk to walk it off. Jared brings up the scene in Heart when he has to kill Madison. Jensen says that he hated having to watch Jared “go through it that day” because, since they weren’t as close to their characters as they are now, Jared was stuck in that emotional state. Jensen says Jared was even like rocking in the corner. Jared said he was that emotional because he was thinking about if he had to put his dogs down and how difficult that would be to get him to that emotional level Sam needed to be and it made Jared really sad. Jared also brings up Sacrifice.
Greatest fears? Jared – snakes, learned that in Yellow Fever lol. Jensen: I had a 150 pound snake crawling down my crotch. Jared: Not the first time he’s said that LOL. They talk more about Yellow Fever. Jensen jokes about being afraid of Twitter. Then says his greatest fear is not being to get to his family if something were to happen. Jared hugs him.
Fan asks about Jared’s hair and how it changes in length. Jensen refers to himself proudly as Mr. Consistent. Fan: Did you want to go from skater boy to – Jensen laughs and says, yeah Jared, skater boy to fashionista? Jared says he can’t figure out what to do with his hair, sometimes it gets really long over the break.
Sexiest scene they’ve enjoyed? Jensen: Just now. Jared: That or gym teacher lol. Jensen says the boys have been running dry lately on sexy scenes. Jared brings up Baby for Sam. Jensen: You weren’t even there! Fan asks if Dean and Sam have ever had a shirtless scene together, Jensen doesn’t think so. Jared asks the audience if there has been a scene where they have ever been shirtless together, mentions something about needing to look it up on SuperWiki. Jensen talks about how filming those love/sex scenes are not sexy while shooting because they are very technical. Jared: Unless you marry her! lol Jensen: Yeah, that’s not acting anymore by the way.
If Sam and Dean were in a horror movie they would just show up and take care of business. Jensen says if Dean was in My Bloody Valentine and saw some guy coming at him with an ax Dean would just shoot him.
Favorite season finale? Jared: Swan Song, Sacrifice. End of s8 was very powerful for him. To keep fighting for someone you care about was really meaningful to him. Jensen: Swan Song and end of Season 9, excited about Dean opening his eyes and revealed to be a demon.
7 year old asks favorite car. Jensen: A big wheel. Jared: Big engine, big trunk, two seats big enough for him and Jensen to sleep in.
Jared and Jensen can’t answer who Matt Cohen (pretending to be John Winchester) actually was in Sam’s vision in Baby because they KNOW who it was. We will find out soon.
Fan asks if show will run for “like 50 fucking years” like Days of Our Lives. J2 (after laughing/clapping): Yes. They say their kids will have to play the roles for them when they are the “elders.”
They talk about how they used to have to wear contacts like when possessed but now it’s visual effects. They demonstrate how difficult wearing the contacts were since you couldn’t see anything.
Fan mentions how they were talking to JDM earlier about his new role on The Walking Dead as Negan and that character being in the Supernatural universe. Jensen: I think The Walking Dead should have the Winchesters come and take a look at their issues.
Jensen asked why no verbs? Jensen: No need. Describes a convo with Clif: Are you guys on your way yet? No. You up? No. Pizza? Yes.
Jared: It would surprise people, but outside of work we’re both introverts. Jensen agrees. Says they get their “extroverting out of us” when they work. Jared jokes about extroverting all over. Jensen: It’s gonna get messy. They are similar, like to keep it simple, stay at home, etc. Jensen says that last week he went to a concert by himself and enjoyed it, didn’t talk to anyone.
Jensen: There are a lot of things that make me fearful for JJ. It scares me to not be able to protect her from everything that would hurt her.
Jared wants to protect kids from bullies, but really wants to teach them that other people’s negative judgments don’t matter. It was an important lesson for him.
Default answer to being any other character on SPN is Castiel because he gets multiple episodes off a year and they never do. Sometimes they don’t see Misha for months, like when he goes to Europe or elsewhere and comes back. If not Cas, Jared would love to be Rowena because he would love to give Mark a hard time, would dye his hair red.
SPN theme park discussion. Talks about nutcracker stage, haunted houses, etc. Jensen says the cars on the coaster would be Impalas and there would be shooting games. Fan has a whole list of ideas that Jensen reads out loud, which includes a strip club with a drunk Dean in the corner, Sam’s lost shoe, SPN musical, etc.
Jared always wanted to be an actor, but to be practical was going to go to college to be an engineer. Fan asks Jared for algebra help. Jensen: oh he’ll do your taxes in five minutes. Jensen brings up Jared being best math guy in high school. Jared: Yeah I was always good in math. Jensen was comfortable with sets and that acting life because of his dad being an actor so it happened naturally. But at first he was just going to go to college, too. He thought acting was an unattainable dream “but here I am.”
Trouble J2 have gotten into? Jensen jokes that they’re not sure their management needs to know what shenanigans they get into. Jared: Sam and Dean get into worse situations. Jensen: Jared, when was the last time you were in the back of a police cruiser? Jared: On set, you? Jensen: Next question.
Jensen talks about how difficult it is being away from family and friends (in response to the “curses” of their job) and how they work a lot. But they still love doing it and appreciate what they have and what they are able to do. They recognize there has to be sacrifice while this job is available to them. Jared: I feel so lucky to play Sam, I know Jensen feels lucky to play Dean. We are fortunate. They want to commit to it and give it everything they have. Even though they miss their kids they are thrilled to be with the fans are are grateful. Jared: “This show is around because of you guys.”
Jared: Supernatural won’t go 20 years. Jensen: What? Jared: It’ll go 50 not 20.
Jensen is asked what Dean wants for Sam out of life. Jensen: Because of what they’ve been through, Dean understands that he is not a domesticated person, he and Sam have tried in the past. Dean said it best when he said he was at home driving down crazy street next to Sam and he hopes Sam is in the same boat. Will fight the fight no matter the cost. Dean will do anything for his brother, and that motivates Dean to be a brother, be the best partner in crime that he can be to his brother. He wants to believe that “home” is each other.
Last question: Timothy Omundson comes on stage. Jared cracks a Dean Cain joke. Omundson asks who their favorite guest star is and why is it Timothy Omundson? Jensen says it’s because of his beard. Rob: I’m standing right here! Jared says Genevieve because she’s the mother of his kids and Timothy hugs him
