Jensen heard the renewal news from Jared. Jared on the phone: “Hey man, congratulations.” Jensen: What happened? What’s going on? Is my wife pregnant and she told him – or she told Gen who told him??
Jared talks about how they all went and saw the movie, Gleason, in Austin and briefly talked about Steve Gleason, the NFL player the documentary is based on who was diagnosed with ALS and how inspiring and motivating he is.
What story line would they like to go back to, or loose ends they want to tie up? Jared jokes they can’t tie up too many loose ends! Jensen brings up Benny and wants to “figure out if Dean did kill Cain, or if he didn’t.” Says that coming up there is an answer to a question that’s been asked for a long time. Jared: SHH!
Jared bring up Jesse Turner and Adam. Jensen says he wants to see the heavenly celestial card game going on between John, Bobby, Rufus…
Jared was a huge fan of first season of Lost, but in season two didn’t like how too many questions were being answered, implies sometimes it’s better to leave things mysterious or not tie up every loose end.
Jensen talks about three things that piss him off when watching a show: When actors take shots of “whiskey” and act like it’s just water; when someone is driving a car and never checks mirrors or surroundings; and when actors will look at their marks.
Jensen says sometimes the liquor on Supernatural is real, you n ever know. Jared: One of us usually knows 😉

Jensen talks about “The End” episode with future!Dean and says it’s more like glimpse!Dean, because it wasn’t a set future, it was a possible glimpse into the future.

In the episode with Demon!Dean that Jensen directed, “Soul Survivor,” he fought with the writers over the hammer Demon!Dean goes after Sam with. The writers wanted it to be a knife but Jensen wanted the hammer.
Longest it’s ever taken to get a scene and how many takes? They talk about Misha’s scene where it was so bad J2 were removed from the set – Misha refused to do it with J2 in the building so they were kicked out.
Jensen says in earlier years Jared’s gas would clear the set for about half an hour. Not so much since he got married. Jensen: Gen worked her magic on you lol.
Fan: I love Danneel. Jensen: Me too. Fan asks what character he would create for Danneel on the show and Jensen says that Danneel would enjoy playing an evil character. – I think @DanneelHarris could play an evil character. . @jarpad : tread lightly

Jensen talks about the scene in the wrestling ring, says he just did one or two takes but editing cut and repeated all of it so it looked longer. If he knew they were going to do that he would have done more.
A fan comments that it’s refreshing to have Sam and Dean talking this season. They ask if Jensen is planning on directing next season? Jensen: I don’t know – we just had a sit down conversation with Bob Singer and others and until we finish the season they don’t line the slots up. Jensen talks about how big of a commitment directing is and that there is a reason directors in television don’t direct eps back to back – but Jensen still has to film for Dean after directing. He loves the experience, though. They’ll see how things play out, and he’ll talk with Danneel about it, too. He says it sounds like they might be trying to bring back some directors we’ll love. The crew is family and they’re amazing. Jensen mentions if he doesn’t direct in s12 maybe they’ll get renewed for s13 and he’ll direct then!
Fan mentions that Jim Beaver said that J2 did not have the ability to prank him good enough. Jared: He’s difficult to prank. Talks about how he tried to squeeze Jim’s toes in the hospital bed scene but Jim was stone-faced. After hearing what Jim said, Jared: Challenge accepted!
Fan asks about why boys will make certain decisions that seem unwise (like trusting Crowley). They talk about how sometimes they’ll read things and go what?? But they’re invested and they know that those actions have a reason, like setting up a story line they want to tell.
The boys talk about certain unrealistic things that happen like during fight scenes (ie when they get thrown and always lose their weapons, Jensen says you usually grip harder when you’re thrown so why would they lose the weapons?!) However it exists for a reason. Jared: We wouldn’t get to be saved by our brother.
Fangasm report A few days before the con, I got an email from Creation (from someone I’ve never met) telling me that I was no longer allowed to post anything about the ‘private’ meet and greets. Not here on the blog, not on twitter, not on facebook, not on tumblr, not anywhere. If you’ve been reading this blog regularly, you know that a few years ago I was told not to post transcripts of the meet and greets, only tidbits, which is a rule I’ve followed ever since even if it rankled. Suddenly it was nothing. Zilch. Nada. Never mind that there are plenty of details from every meet and greet on tumblr if you know where to find them, but those blogs aren’t public and widely read so they aren’t likely to be policed.

Okay, I know we all know Jared’s hot, but he looks so handsome in person. And his hair is gorgeous omg. He’d keep swiping his hands through it as he talked and it was very distracting. He also smelled really nice. :3
Personality-wise, he’s pretty much what you would expect: very friendly and welcoming, joked around quite a bit. As other people have said, I found him to be much more casual and conversational than Jensen’s M&G (that’s not to say that Jensen is anything short of wonderful in his own M&G; Jared’s just more laid back).
One of the people at the M&G had won a copy of the script for “The French Mistake,” and it was supposed to be delivered to her last summer, so Jared apologized profusely for the long wait and delivered it to her right there in person.
He talked a little bit about Dudes Being Dudes in Wine Country and jokingly complained about Stephen Amell taking so long to release the trailer that was recently posted. He commented on how wine can be very “snooty” and more or less conveyed that they want to showcase it in a more down-to-earth, enjoying the pleasures in life sort of light.
He also talked about the McDonald’s commercial and how he doesn’t really want to endorse something unless he uses/believes in it, but he eats McDonald’s on a fairly regular basis and went on to joke about how he’s probably gonna eat McDonald’s right after the convention (not that he actually advocates eating that kind of food daily or anything). He was a little hesitant about it at first because part of him didn’t want to open up his life to the public in that way, but at the same time, he didn’t want it to just feel like a commercial. He seemed to be happy with the overall result.
He was asked about his recent shooting for Gilmore Girls, and I don’t remember the town he specified because I never watched the show, but from what I gathered from his comments about the new footage, Dean isn’t living in the same place anymore and he ends up running into an old friend.
He talked about San Jac Saloon and how he got involved in the business because he’s thinking about his financial future and wants to make sure he has something solid in place when Supernatural eventually ends.
I mentioned that Sam’s bravery and the way he sticks up for other people is one of the things I love most about Sam, and I asked Jared if there’s any lessons he’s learned from Sam’s character and/or if any of his qualities have inspired him to be a better person. He agreed about Sam’s bravery being inspiring and I think he said that it’s helped him to be more open or something to that effect; I don’t remember his exact quote. But he also said that it’s become kind of a symbiosis and a chicken/egg sort of thing where it’s hard to tell if Sam’s changed him or if he’s changed the way the writers write Sam. One of the big things he learned with Sam was wanting himself to be understood and then actually communicating that.

Jared wasn’t as lucky gambling this time around in Vegas
Boys thank the fans for s12. They are super grateful and super proud.
Fan wants J2 to remind themselves of the good they have done when they are having a bad day. Asks where they see themselves professionally in 10 years? Jared: Supernatural the Movie? Jensen: Retired. Jared wants to spend time being a father – Jensen: Yeah, find a way to get paid by just playing with our kids. Jared: The Real House Husbands of Austin.
Jensen: There’s no end in sight for SPN just yet. When the end comes into view then they’ll start thinking about that.
Jared loves a fan’s shirt that says “Kind is the new pretty.”
A fan wants to know what instruments they play? The guy says he plays ten instruments and lists them after J2 make guesses. Jensen: I play the guitar, vocals, spoons, clapping, tapping my feet, the kazoo, the tambourine, the cowbell, the shaker, and the trombone. Jared: I can play the stereo, the iPhone, the iPad, the XM radio, and the television.
Jared has some mic issues after dropping it and Jensen tries to teach Jared how to clap without the mic. Results in an impromptu clapping song between the boys.
Fan has seen pics of Jared with a guitar and wants to know if he plays. Jared: I can destroy “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.” Jared says his buddy Matt that he did the Chevy commercial with got him into guitar in high school and they used to play a lot then. He is trying to get back into it but says he watches guys like Billy from Louden Swain and wonders why he tries. But he wants to keep practicing.
Jensen: I’m gonna say something about my dear friend here. When I knock on his trailer door he generally has a guitar in his lap. He’ll be trying to figure out how to play a certain tune. He’ll nail the intro and stop there, or play a favorite part of the song, but doesn’t play all the way through. So he does a lot of that but he’s very good at it. I hope you guys would encourage him to continue because he is good at it and he should do it more. Jared: Thanks Ackles.
They are asked about security blankets, beanies specifically for Jared. Jared: Yes it is absolutely my security blanket. Jensen says he usually has a ball cap on when he’s just cruising around but doesn’t consider it a security blanket he’s just comfortable with it and doesn’t feel like grooming his hair sometimes. Jensen wears a necklace his wife gave him years ago and bracelets that have significance. Never flies without the necklace.
How did they know their wives were the ones they wanted to be with? Jared: I just feel like she makes me a better person, and a lot of people do, but it’s hard to explain – “If I could explain I’d be a poet.” Jared says Gen “just makes me feel safe and loved. When I don’t love myself sometimes I know she loves me and she’s just an awesome awesome lady.”
Jensen talks about how some people might know for certain this person is the one, but others don’t know but are willing to take that leap. Says he found himself in between both of those. Says it can be scary, will certainly have ups and downs, but it’s a bond, connection, friendship, journey and it can be an amazing, beautiful thing. Loves and is proud of his partnership and teammate in Danneel.
Fan: Because of their schedules, what’s one thing they’ve done to stay committed in their marriage? Jared: He and I both have a rule where we don’t go more than two weeks without seeing our families. They are stronger than us. Gives a shout out to military families.
Jensen talks about the success of the show and how they have been mostly kept off the radar. Says they aren’t celebs who have to end up in magazines or constantly harassed. Jensen: We aren’t scandalous people. We find comfort in being boring. Jared: I love boring. Jensen: It allows us to have a real relationship with family and friends. They don’t have to be a persona in the public eye they get to be themselves. Important to J2′s relationship, and with crew, family, and friends. Jensen: He and I have been able to keep each other accountable and it has helped all of those relationships.
How would Sam and Dean feel if they landed at a convention like VegasCon? Jensen: I smell an episode. J2: All the love here, they’d wanna stay.
If they could act or direct in any film or TV show? Jensen: Game of Thrones, would love to work with David Nutter again and one of the only shows he keeps up with. Jared: I’d love to be in Star Wars. Wanted to be in Harry Potter. He talks about how Daniel Craig was a storm trooper in a “secret” Star Wars cameo because he just loved the films so much. Jensen: James Bond. Jared: Jensen wants to be James Bond but he wants to do to GOT because he gets to be naked.
Jensen: We just went to a Renaissance Faire and at first JJ was kind of resistant of the colorful characters there. Jensen was challenged to throw tomatoes at a guy (screaming kind of well meaning abuse at passers-by) from about 30-40 feet away.
So he’s talking to the girl getting the money from people wanting to do it and she explains she’s a fan and that he can throw as many as he wants, and that the dude normally gets hit maybe once or twice a weekend and he’s like ‘Alright, let’s do this’ because the whole time he guy is standing there taunting him about how he doesn’t care about the show and how Jensen probably reeks of LA and rejection.
JJ: What’s happening, daddy? Jensen: Daddy’s gonna try to hit him in the face with a tomato.
So on his fifth throw (after getting progressively more violent and determined) he finally gets the guy in the face and follows up immediately after with another tomato right on his eye and the guy is thrown backwards from the force and then came out to congratulate him on the hit.
Meanwhile, JJ is there cheering ‘Yeah Daddy!’ and now Jensen is questioning his parenting choicesJJ:
The guy shook his hand and told Jensen that’s the hardest he’s been hit in a long time.
Jared talks about taking the kids backstage at the live action Wild Kratts show that the boys love. Says it was the best day of Tom and Shep’s lives – true joy and awe. Chris and Martin Kratt were amazing and kind.
Fan asks about most memorable moment in 11 years. Jensen says there have been some pretty big moments: major milestones, losses, everything in between. He and Jared have reflected on it many times. Jensen talks about the relationships those 11 years have given them.
Jared says he remembers asking Jensen to stand in his wedding, and remembers Jensen asking Jared to stand in his wedding as well. He remembers meeting his wife, the feeling of the show getting picked up each season. He said at the 200th episode party it was really special to see everyone, such as Kripke and the rest of the cast and crew, all watching this montage of ten seasons of SPN. It was a really cool experience. Jared hopes to see the 300th episode party.
Time management question for Director!Jensen: They have a wonderful crew of AD’s such as Kevin Parks and he is a wizard when it comes to time management. So he leans on him. Talks about how the crew are supportive and says there are things you can do such as laying everything out and then trimming the excess – what do you not need but can still tell the story?
Girl who works in Vegas as an aerialist asks about their scariest or most exciting stunt they did themselves? They talk about when they had to jump out of a 2nd story window that was opaque and had to trust that something was there to catch them. Jared: Another thing was the bees – not scary but they knew it was going to suck. Jensen: They don’t let us do a whole lot of the big stunts. Too much of a liability.
Which character would they want to run for president? Jared: Charlie. Jensen: Bobby Singer.
