Jared panel tumblr
Jared mentions this being his last panel of the con, fans tell him they love him. Jared says he loves them, too, and would like to stay as well but he’s been without his kids for a long time. Says he’ll spend some more time with the fans before he rushes off.
Shoe size is between a 13 and a 14 depending on the shoe.
Jared’s older brother, Jeff, is an orthopedic surgeon. Jared called him when he hurt his shoulder and went in to get an x-ray. Says that Jeff goes into work mode really well and is an awesome surgeon. He went into older, protective big brother mode and Jared is grateful Jeff got him fixed up.
He talks about the Mockumentary, said it was really easy to make fun of himself. Said he’s never really played “fake Jared” and didn’t know what characterization he would do but they knew the fans would laugh.
Jared says playing Superman would be fun. If he were to do a superhero movie, he wants to have a beard, though. “Does Thor have a beard?” Fans: Yes. Jared: Thor.
If Sam did get the Mark of Cain, Jared thinks it would not have turned out well for him. Fan: Sam is strong. Jared: Sam is strong, Dean is strong, too. So was Cain. But this is a stronger force than you would ever even imagine. Sam does not want another evil unleashed on the world (why he says to Dean to lock him up). Jared says Sam would have fought it but he hopes Dean would have locked him away and not let that force get unleashed on the world.
He’s asked if he could time travel, would he change the past or the future? Jared says he doesn’t really want to see the future, even though he’s so curious. “What if I see my future and I don’t like it? Then I’ll probably try and change the outcome” and it would just be a source of anxiety and/or depression. At first he says he doesn’t necessarily wanna change the past, then says that there have been things that he’s not super proud of. “If I’ve done some things that hurt somebody, I would like to erase that.” He decides he would change some stuff in his past.
Jared talks about how he’s gone through things and how the fans are aware, and he knows that in the last 11 years everyone has gone through something and he says it’s an honor to think that he’s been part of our lives when we’ve hit depressions or highs and lows. “It feels like we’ve grown up and gone to school together.” He mentions that there’s something really special about friends of his who knew him when he was a nerdy 15 year old skipping prom to work on some acting thing and were supporting him. Knowing the fans support him now is special, says it’s grown.
Fan asks Jared about Austin, he says that he loves walking around Austin and that the city has great music, great food, great outdoor activities. For him, it became a place he could relax and that’s why he decided to move there. He talked about how he “called my friend Jensen” and told him he should move to Austin, too. He said: “’Jensen, come visit Austin.’ So he came and now he lives there, too. So I get to have one of my best buddies in town also.”
Jared is asked about the best and worst part about being an actor. Jared acknowledges that he has great blessings. Jokes about how if a restaurant is booked he can still get a seat, but later he might find a picture of himself posted on the internet with food on his face. Jared says he can afford the finer things, but along with that, wonders “would I lose appreciation” for those things? He talks about how people want to be his friend, but he has to question why they want to be his friend, and he questions himself a lot. There are those great blessings, but he became weary and suspicious of the outside world. He talks about how he was a shy guy and had to learn to find that part of himself that would let him be in front of people. If he’s not out somewhere, he’s just “at home and boring.” He thinks it’s awesome to go out and meet people and joke around and be extroverted, but his instinct is to be introverted. He wonders that maybe questioning life like that is a good quality. Says that if he could go back in time he wouldn’t change his decision to become an actor. Says that the fans have made him feel welcome and special.
A fan asks how he calms down after auditions or for auditions, Jared says he doesn’t, says it’s awful. He gets really nervous, even after so many years of being in the business. He still has a tough time believing in himself in that situation, calls it a weird feeling. He tells a story about a friend of his asking about a stack of scripts they noticed at his house; he took them to his garage and showed her a stack of scripts in boxes for all of the auditions he had gone to and didn’t get that he hadn’t put in the recycling bin yet. He was successful, but still had “1,000 people go nope, you’re not good enough.” Jared says with his personality type, you’re hard on yourself when you hear you’re not good enough. Says if he ever figures out good advice for auditions he’ll pass it along.
Jared talks about the big changes that happened bts for Supernatural, losing Jeremy as the showrunner as well as writers Jenny Klein and Robbie Thompson. He says it was three big losses and he would never begrudge them or be mad at them for moving on, but it’s tough because it’s such a family. He feels confident, though, because Jeremy was the third showrunner, they’ve done this before successfully. He believes in the fan’s support and Dabb and Singer, saying Bob knows Sam and Dean really well and thinks it’ll be alright.
Jared gets to see on the screen fan art of Salmon Dean being chased by a bear (he had asked for the fan art at JIBCon lol). He thinks it’s awesome and a pretty good interpretation. “He needs bowlegged fins and he needs the Samulet now that he has it back.” He says well done to whoever made it.
Jared talks about Tom and Shep and says that he wants them to find their own curiosity and he’ll support their interests. He’s hoping as a parent to inspire curiosity and if they come to him asking to do something he will help them find the best people to help them learn, but he doesn’t want to force them into things they might not like.
A fan asks what kind of car Sam would have. Jared says that he thinks it’s funny because in real life he’s the car guy. Talks about how his first car was a ‘69 Camaro and he had fan belts and spark plugs in his glove box. He feels that Sam, however, is the opposite and is so practical that he would choose whatever was the smartest way to get from place to place. Thinks Sam would probably pick a hybrid or an electric car, or a suburban that he that he could keep a lot of supplies in. Says Sam would look for the most economical or useful way to get from point A to point B.
Fan asks how many bottles of wine he’s taking home. Jared laughs, says in all fairness probably three or four. The fan admits she likes bad wine; Jared said that he was talking with Reeve Carney earlier during the cast lunch about wine when they all had a bottle of wine together – Reeve told him he usually likes cheap wine and Jared told him if you like cheap wine, drink cheap wine. Says the best wine is the one you want to have another drink of.
He’s asked how Dean from Gilmore Girls would respond to ghosts and monsters? Jared says he’d probably be like, “Dammit, I shouldn’t have left Stars Hollow.” Jared doesn’t think Dean would be too happy, and even though he wouldn’t back down he would probably be outmatched. Says he would “have to call his brother from another mother” to get some help.
Fan asks if there’s been a script of SPN where he wanted to be Dean. Jared says the submarine ep from this season, “The Vessel.” He was jealous because he’s a big fan of WWII in the sense that he is fascinated by the history/time period and in the human development during that time. He says, though, that he got an extended break around the Christmas hiatus because of all of the scenes Jensen was shooting in the submarine, and he loved doing the scenes in that ep with Sam and Casifer.
