Jared says this is one of his favorite places to come to, he feels like a professor on the stage they have at MinnCon. Jared says that is the second biggest cheeseburger he's ever seen, Jensen says he has seen Jared eat one that big.
Jared brings up the Olympics and if everyone has been enjoying them. Jared brings up the story of his dear friend Jordan, who lives here, getting jumped in season 1. Jared: last year we got together – Jensen: Last night. Jared, meaning last night lol, says they got together and Jordan asked if they had seen his cousin in the Olympics; apparently his cousin is Katie Ledecky! Jared: That’s badass!
They asked about the concert, any unusual surprises? (Shatner). They say how they were with a buddy last night (JDM).
J2 start talking about how Jared has no height perspective for people, can never tell how tall someone is compared to him. Jensen: For 12 years now Jared has been doing this to Lou Bollo (stunt coordinator) – Jensen crouches down next to Jared acting like Lou and Jared turns around looking over Jensen’s head. Jared: Jensen, is someone talking to me?? Jensen: It has yet to get old lol.

Jensen talks about how Lou has their backs, Jared agrees. Jensen tells story about how he kind of wrenched his neck on a stunt, two days ago, in which he had to take four running steps and hit his back against the wall as hard as he could sideways. Jared: No. Jensen: It was like getting hit by a car. Jared: Why did you do that? Jensen: I got this, Todd stand down. Jensen’s stunt double was like, really? So Lou wanted Jensen to put pads on.
Jensen: Jared and I have this thing like, anything past take three, you get hurt, and sure enough. Jensen was like: Yeah, okay that’s it, I’m good, after hurting himself.
They filmed until 3:00 AM for Fraturday this week and then they flew in yesterday, just finished 243rd episode (12×03, still has Monday to film w/o them). They’re excited to be in Minn.
Fan challenges them to Whip/Nae Nae, wants to see who would win. Jensen says he has no idea what she’s talking about. Jared starts to look it up for Jensen and JDM walks in.

Jensen: You came at the perfect time.
JDM: We were playing Bocce ball last night! You guys look like you just woke up. I’ve been here for hours. Jensen: Shut up. J3 all share some hugs and JDM takes off.
Some shenanigans with them trying to figure out how to Nae Nae – Jensen calls it the Superman punch. Jared wins the challenge lol.
Sam and Dean’s favorite sports? They narrow it down to Olympic events. Jared loves the swimming events. He tested himself in his Vancouver apartment pool in Vancouver which is 30 metres, or 25, and was winded after 25m, so is always impressed by the swimmers. Also likes the volleyball. Jensen: for some reason I was into the women’s gymnastics, I'll admit it, I think it was because they have such a dominant team this year, at a level that was so superior to the rest, plus my wife was super into it so I didn’t get a choice. Says Dean would like beach volleyball for the bikinis.
Fan asks what their favorite car is besides the Impala? Jensen: late 60′s, early 70′s Ford Bronco. Jared talks about his first car, a ‘69 Camaro that he still has. Jared has Chevy's, and once you choose your brand, you stick with it, I did buy a Mustang but sold it after a year. Jared’s favorite car is a generation 2 (C2) Corvette, ‘63 – ‘67, convertible.
They make fun of Clif for his Mustang – Jensen: "go drive your little pony in a pony race."
Fan thanks them for saying hi to her friend on her birthday last night. They liked playing Bocce at Brit’s Pub.
Jared thinks Sam was in denial about his calling as a hunter when he and Dean were split for those Stanford years.
They talk about the photoshoot last weekend and bring up the pics of Amell’s parking space lol.
At the photoshoot, they have to do taglines for a bunch of different networks in different countries (like when you hear, “Hi, this is Jared Padalecki, don’t miss a new episode..” etc). They had to do a tag for the French market. Jensen: In an attempt to appeal to the French market they had written on the teleprompter “bonjour.” For some reason Jensen could not not say it like (emphatic) bonjour! He would go from casual to a kind of extreme “Bonjour!!” lol. Jared: It almost surprised himself! When Jensen tried to do it again he kept saying it the same.
They couldn’t believe the signs about the no eating and no sleeping on The Flash set lol.
They walked outside and saw Amell’s parking space. His parking space sign was on the wall. The boys discovered the sign was bolted on with washers to the cement wall. Jared ripped the whole thing out of the wall. The production assistants and AD’s were like oh god, Amell is working tomorrow I gotta call in sick! J2 were like, really??
They also drew on it. But they opted not to take a picture of that because they went graphic (they apparently don’t know that Amell posted a pic on FB of it lol). Amell texted Jared and said “best sign ever I’m forcing them to keep it.” Jensen drew the picture but tried to blame Jared.
Next question, someone shots and Jensen says let's not encourage people to shout out. Then he takes the piss out of her not using the mic in a very cute mime.
Q is What's your fav finale? Jared loves 5 and 8, but also loved the season one finale. There was something magical about it, and JDM being there kind of brought it back. Back then, they were more afraid to be cancelled than they are now.
Jared goes into detail about the cost of shooting about $3m an episode, so for the first three years shows are always in debt, and why making it to syndication was important in terms of making sure the show is making money compared to how much a show spends on making each ep. He then talks about how the season one finale was filmed with the car wreck. Jensen says the truck in the finale that hit them was supposed to keep driving. They were setting up at Boundary Bay with cables , they started it by putting both cars where they collided, then back them up. Kim set up all the cameras and one of them got destroyed because it went off track. The car was supposed to explode and barrel roll, but the truck hit and got locked with the metal of the car and both vehicles just slid to a halt.
The first thing Kim Manners said to Lou was, “Well, I hope you’re stunt guy can act.” Because now the truck driver had to be part of the scene in the s2 premiere because they were going to pick up from there.
Jared took something from the Impala when they were done filming the car wreck – the car horn – and might give it to Jensen someday when the show ends.
A fan from Hawaii just gave them each a lei – Jensen fakes smoking and says “I need a nap.” They are worn by Hawaiian royalty, Jared says King? and Princess – pointing to Jensen.
Jared doesn’t know if they’re legally allowed to film on another show but would love to guest on a reality ghost hunting show. Jensen says they can't freak out because that would do a disservice to the 12 years they've put in. And I would just think I could probably handle it, what would Dean do, I might know. Talks about how he and Gen took a tour of the Winchester Mystery House. The whole tour group didn’t say anything until the end then asked Jared for pictures. He thought it was cool.
Fan brings up the prank Mark Sheppard pulled on Jared that Jensen filmed, wants to know what it was. Jensen: You wanna hear? Pulls his phone out. Jared: there’s some dirty language…
The prank: on the same day as the photoshoot when they had to do the multiple taglines for different networks and countries, Jared was looking at his watch, my wife and kids were in town, and… Jensen is listening to it on his phone and laughs.
Mark had them put on the teleprompter for Jared: This fall, watch Mark Sheppard on The Flash on the Mark Sheppard show (or channel). Jared starts to say it then you hear (from Jensen’s phone) are you fucking kidding me? Jensen didn’t know what it was going to say but he plays along like, “Yeah, did you not hear about his contract?” Lots of laughter lol.

The boys praise JDM and how he’s gonna show ‘em how it’s done (re: killing zombies) on The Walking Dead.
Fans are yelling love you Jared and love you Jensen. Jared: We both love ALL of y’all.
Jensen wants Jared to tell the fans about his Bocce skills last night. Jensen: I totally hustled him last night. How much money did you lose?
Jared’s friend and one of his groomsmen, Jordan, was with them and they spotted the Bocce setup. Jared says Jensen hustled him at Bocce lol. They couldn’t get in, people reserve spots to play, so Jensen told Jared to try to bribe the other guys who were playing so they could have their spot. Jared actually walked over and paid the guys who were “gleeful” and left with their money and Jared was giving Jensen thumbs up because they got to play Bocce now lmao. Those guys only had 15 minutes left of their time though, so they almost got kicked out. But the next group were no shows so J2, JDM and the others got to stay a little longer and play.
Jared: JDM and Jensen are Bocce Olympians. Jensen: It was the oldies vs the youngies and the oldies prevailed. Jared: Rematch tonight.
Jared talks about how they often say how Supernatural wouldn’t exist without the conventions and the fans.
Who would they cast to play them in a movie? Jared: the guy who was on the Trump Tower. Jensen: Meryl Streep.
Jared says his agent texted him and asked him, “That’s not you, right?” And Jared had to tell him no, it wasn’t but if they ever make a documentary of it, I know I got a job. I saw it on CNN I was so happy, I opened my trailer door and was like "everybody come here" and Jensen was in his trailer next door, like what?! They joke about the bad picture they used of him, I was like yawning!
v Jewel Staite told a story, what's your side? Jared, you don't want to annoy people while you're eating, she's a professional, she was just being kind not to interrupt us.
If they were to do a Changing Channels episode now, what shows would they parody? The Walking Dead. Jensen: Any nondescript superhero because there’s too many of them. Jared: Game of Thrones. Jensen talks about how they were doing the photoshoot on The Flash set and Arrow is right next door. They said it was the day of superheroes and real heroes *gestures to himself and Jared* 😉
Jensen agrees with GOT and someone shouts Kim Kardasian and he says he won't stoop that low, just kidding Kim. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Jared: And the swimming Olympic trials. He says to strap on those speedos! Jensen: It’s on.
They start spinning in their chairs and hitting each other in with their knees.
Favorite part about being a dad? They get to act like children.
Fans congratulate Jensen. Jared: I agree. Jensen, haha! Jared to the audience: Does anybody out there have twins? Jensen points out the twins in the audience that cheer and says he’ll be feeling their parent’s pain soon lol.
Jared loves watching his sons telling secrets, playing together, interacting. When Jensen was carrying a sleepy JJ she said "you're so strong Daddy", (Jensen mimics crying) that was a good moment for me.
Jensen stops to tell Jared a story about their camera operator Brad Creassar on set who was struggling to pick something up on set the other day but couldn’t curl it. Jensen curled it and told Creassar dude, you need to do a pushup. We love you Brad.
What would life be like if Mary hadn’t died? Jared: Probably wouldn’t be hunters. Sam would be a lawyer, Dean would be … a stripper, a female stripper, had the operation.
Jensen: we’ll learn in s12 that Mary was trying so desperately to protect her family from that world. He thinks it was inevitable because she’s a hunter, once a hunter always a hunter.
v Jared: Or they could have been farmers and Mary could have had a little lamb….Jensen to fan: Don’t start your question with a potential nursery rhyme lol.
Asked about actresses they’ve worked with on the show who they enjoyed working with most. Jensen: Is Briana still backstage? Jared says she was one of those people/actresses that as soon as she did her first take J2 looked at each other and were like, she’s coming back. Jensen: Winner. Felicia was the same with Charlie, she was only written for one episode, as well as Kim with Jody. Jared jokes: Jim, Misha. Jensen: No, she’s was supposed to be on for a while. Jensen – it was their likeability, I was upset they killed Charlie but you’re never really dead on Supernatural. Jensen: hard to pick a favorite, his wife was a joy to work with, and apparently a joy to be with outside the set too, lol! I'll never forget it, Gen sitting in her cast chair reading and Jared sitting on the floor watching her with heart eyes. I walked by, yep, that’s happening. She didn’t stand a chance poor girl. Lisa Berry, Alaina, and Ruth, talk about how fortunate they have been to have so much talent come through on the show.
Ask for a Sam n Dean story. They tell the Salmon Dean story and start cracking up while imitating a bow-finned Salmon Dean.

Where is Charlie, Kevin was in the veil, and she died after him.
Jared says 'after *he*', after he died. He realizes and starts laughing. Jensen finds an English teacher in the audience and asks them not to mess with their kids the way Jared was. Jared clarifies that it was his dad, the accountant that was actually the grammar Nazi, not mom the English teacher.
v Jensen: Sometimes I’ll go “JJ and I” and Jared will go “and me”, Jensen: No, JJ and I, Jared: to the store with JJ and me – to correct it but Jensen will be like, no, you weren’t at the store! Stop making it all about you!!! They will repeat it back and forth in different variations.
What was the question again? Where they think Charlie is, Jensen says Charlie is in Purgatory helping Benny. Jared: She’s kicking some serious ass.
My home town was in two eps, Jared: how far is it from here? Three hours. One of my personal hopes, when the show is done, Jared would love to visit some of the cities from the show. First, we gotta make it to Lawrence.
Any role model so or mentors in early life? Jared talks about his dad and his older brother. He also had a high school drama teacher that really helped Jared’s acting style. Jensen: He and I are both are very fortunate that our dads are very present in our lives, so from our fathers probably the most influential. There have been lots of folks along the way. Jensen talks about Coach Malcolm in junior high school, the lessons he taught really stuck with him, he was firm disciplinarian but there was a love in his voice, it was earnest and honest. Those years, 14, 15, 16 you're very impressionable, I was glad I had people like him and a few others in my life at that time.
Pranks with JDM? They talk about a time when JDM had shot 12 hours on Greys, flew to Vancouver for a day shooting, with a ton of dialogue, so two hours of sleep. His lines were taped around on set. J2 slapped them on their foreheads. Pranking him would have just been unfair at that moment.
But there's not a whole lot of thought into sabotaging somebody else's take, it just sort of happens organically, spur of the moment.
v Jared talks about how he’s more silly with Jensen and Misha. There are certain scenes with certain actors, such as filming with Matt Cohen, where he wants to stay in a certain head space for Sam, I'm not method but I want to keep that moment, like if you watch a game, the people not on court are still there. He brings up the church scenes in Sacrifice with Mark Sheppard and how it was three long miserable days in a bad head space for Sam and Jared, but he thought he needed it for the scenes.
J2 have something in the works for someone (Mark) right now, prank wise!
Fan asks about Kings of Con, Jared jokes: Yeah, I’ll never do that again. Jensen: Yeah, talk about bush league. They look around for Rob and Rich but they don’t come out lol.
Jared: “I’ve got your 6” keeps an eye out for Rob and Rich while Jensen says they were pleasantly surprised by how the production was so well run.
Jared talks about how they enjoyed getting to be guest stars on the show instead of leads; Rob and Rich are smart and funny and talented. It was nice to sit there and kind of watch them as fellow actors. He loved being part of the set. They also had time to try things over again – not like a tv show with time constraints.
Jared makes a "gun" out of his water bottle and pops the cap into the audience, and Jensen says every bottle of water they drink that happens to.
Rob and Richard come out and hand them money for all of the good things they said about Kings of Con lol. There was no ego, it was the best idea wins, that's awesome, give it a shot, we don't have time for that in SPN, we don't have that, and usually the cameras are on us, it was great I'd like to do it again. When I say “me” I mean “us” and gestures to himself and Jensen. Rich and Rob come out and hand them cash. Jensen: this will go to our next bocce bribing.
If they could play a character on The Walking Dead they would just wanna be Sam and Dean Winchester. We could end that show real quick, and we could end Vampire Diaries. Jensen: I can ‘t think of a better reason to use a grenade launcher than a bunch of zombies. Jared, it finally makes an appearance in S12.
v From the Ukraine, Jared what was your reaction on finding out about the Ackles twins (accent): Jared: the echo what? He and I and our wives are all very close. We see each other on a regular basis whether we’re shooting or not. When I found out, my first instinct was to pour Jensen a stiff drink and go like, “I’m sorry, man.” lol. Jared says seriously he couldn’t be more thrilled for them. Jensen: he went into the kitchen where Gen was and said hey, honey, did you hear the news? The Ackles? They just caught up and passed us. To the bedroom! Jared says the twins couldn’t have better parents, and Tom and Shep are gonna have two new friends.
