Jensen: “Happy Thanksgiving, Canadians!”
Jared: Thank you for waking up early with us.
Jensen: That's the trick, don't sleep the night before.
The boys talk about the s12 premiere this Thursday. Jensen: Oh, that’s right. Jared: You’re supposed to know this stuff. Jensen: They just tell me where to stand and what to say. Jared: True, and he doesn't always do it.
They just got an email from Peter Roth, the head of WBTV, and was really excited about the premiere.
Jensen fixed Jared’s mic for him – and made it shorter lol. “That’s what it feels like to be Rob.”
Jensen’s favorite Cowboy player right now is Prescott (aka the rookie backup quarterback playing during Romo’s absence). A fan screams in agreement. Jared: I like you!
Jared loved the relationship with family on Supernatural, the connection between Sam and Dean is special and that’s what drew him into the show.
If they could have dinner with anyone dead or alive? Jared says his wife and his grandfather because he never got to meet him, he died before he was born. Jensen: Yeah, his father’s father. Jensen says he could list quite a lot of people. Like Gandalf.
Fan thanks Jensen for introducing them to Kaleo. Asks Jared if he has suggestions on bands? Jared: Justin Bieber? Fan: As a Toronto fan I take offense to that. Jared: Is he from Toronto? Fans: Yes! Jensen: We can give him back. Fan: No, no, no, you keep him. Jensen: What is the return policy on him? Pretty sure the warranty has expired.
If Jensen could pitch any Kaleo song to be on the show it would be “All the Pretty Girls” because if you listen to the lyrics (Jared starts raising his hand) it goes: “All the pretty girls like Samuel.”
Jensen pulled out his phone. Jared: What is that picture? I didn’t know your camera was rolling!
Jensen plays a song, “Back in Baby’s Arms” – and Jared is dancing to it.
Jensen would like to see a crossover with The Walking Dead. Jensen: “Sam, this Negan guy really looks like Dad.”
Jared: Doctor Who. Jensen: Gilmore Girls.
Jared says Sam is gonna flip out when he sees Mary.
Fan: I have a request, but it’s very very short! Jared: Like my friend over here?
The fan wants Jensen to do the cat scream and say the “ahh, that was scary” line. Jensen says it's too early, I don't know if I can do that any more. and Jared does the cat scream more than he does lol. He looks at Jared: “You’re always doing the” raises his hands up a little bit and starts waving them while fake screaming as he mimics Jared lol.
Jensen:That's all I can muster right now. She says do the line. Jared says can you do it standing on one foot. Jensen laughs "dance monkey dance, we paid good money", and mimes shooting at their feet. "That was scary." All right.
Will they do conventions after the show ends? Jensen: Yeah, we talked about that. Probably not as many, because we'll be actively looking for other work, Jared: begging for jobs. Jensen we do really enjoy this. Jared: The cons are part of what makes filming not as onerous.
Friday we started 11:30am, so get picked up at 10, filming until 2am. No matter how much you love what you do, it can get tiresome, the sun goes down at 6 and you've got 8 hours of work left. A baby in the audience starts crying. Jared : “That’s how I feel!” We're either in Vancouver or at home in Austin, which has nothing to do with the entertainment business so we don't get to often see the fruits of our labor.
Jared: We’re older than when we started. Jensen: I’ve stayed the same age since we started.
Jared starts to talk about how he has a lot of nervous energy, Jensen: We notice. He starts aggressively playing with the mic mimicking Jared and his nervous energy. Jared reads his scripts while on the treadmill because of it, it helps him focus.
Guy asks what exercise they do and who would win a push up contest. Jensen says Clif. Jensen jogs, says he and Jared do workout videos, they joke: jazzercise, Jane Fonda but those socks get really warm on your legs…. but it's easy to do, well convenient to do.
J2 agree that Jared would win in a push-up contest.
Jensen says that they have accidents with their props on set all of the time. In fact last night, well Friday night, Saturday morning about 1am. They were filming yesterday and a mirror exploded on the guest star, glass everywhere. She was okay, though.
There was also a fire. In a scene Misha is holding something that combusts and they’re supposed to grab it, throw it in the trashcan and pour a pitcher of water on it. The way it landed in the trashcan, though, caused flames to start coming up Jensen’s arm. Jared says it’ll probably make the gag reel. When Jensen realized mid-take that his thumb was in the fire, he was able to keep a straight face but his body reacted in panic as he tried to pour the water into the trashcan.
Jared impersonates Jensen, and his bowlegs, and the fire in the trashcan incident. Jensen goes on to say that after setting the trashcan down they continue the scene – no one else knows that Jensen somewhat broke character with his panicked body language – and as Jensen is standing next to Jared while the camera is rolling, he notices Jared whips his head around and faces away from the camera. Jensen can’t figure out why he’s doing that. Jensen realizes that Jared is hysterically laughing. Jensen tries to continue the dialogue and finally turns to Jared and is like, “What?!” and when Jared turns back around tears are streaming down his face. Jared was laughing about how Jensen freaked out with the fire. He was the only person who realized Jensen even reacted like that lol.
Jared: No one else saw it, but I know him so well- Jensen: he knows me so well he saw that slight little brief [body panic] and he knew that wasn’t Dean anymore, that was Jensen trying to save his hand from being burned. Jared explains that when people experience that startled surprise at being scared, it makes him laugh because of it being an “honest reaction” to something. He realized he was going to ruin the scene, so he turned his face away from the cameras to laugh.
Injuries on set: Jared broke his wrist in s2 on set. At the start of s4 when the glass exploded around Dean, Jensen got sliced up because it was real glass. Jared talks about how a piece of his scalp and chunk of hair was torn off from Bobby’s car when Sam has to jump in. Jensen couldn’t believe that he didn’t feel it. Jared: If you’re this tall you hit your head a lot. People freak out when I hit my head on something.
J2 reenact the scene where Dean comes down the stairs after killing Cain and Sam and Dean hug and Jensen stabbed Jared in the leg by accident. The knife blade was dull, but the tip is still sharp and it went in. Jensen knew immediately that the knife went into Jared’s leg. Jensen: Certainly he’s hurting right now…there’s a knife in his leg…Jared didn’t react, they continued with the scene.
Hardest episode to film? Jensen says “Baby” was very technically challenging because of the way it was shot. They had to turn all the cameras on and off when they were shooting.
Jared’s most difficult scenes are playing opposite himself, such as Lucifer!Sam and Sam talking to each other or Soulless!Sam and Sam. It’s tricky reacting to dialogue that you haven’t filmed yet and trying to make sure it matches up.

13 years ago today Jared was here shooting the “Oscar award winning New York Minute” lmao. Jensen: What category did it win? Jared: All of them.
Jared says this is the last panel before the s12 premiere 🙂 Fun episodes coming up. Glad to be with the fans again getting a “morale boost” before going back to work this week and the premiere airing on Thursday.
Jensen says they’re trying to figure out names for the Twins and he threw a suggestion of a name at JJ and JJ said, “How about no.” He didn’t know how to respond to that. It was like pride and heartbreak all at the same time lol.
If Cas were to enter their lives sooner, how would it be different? Jensen: Cas didn’t need to come into their lives any earlier than he did. They weren’t dealing with the war between heaven and hell yet, demons weren’t as much of an issue back then. The boys joke he would have been unnecessary so “really no different.” “Yeah, really no different than it is now.”
Favorite thing to kill on Supernatural? Jared: my future wife. Jokes that whenever he and Gen argue he’s like, this is because I killed you isn’t it? Jensen wants to say vampires are fun to kill, but it’s also difficult and messy technically. Picks the wendigo. They also talk about the bees in “Bugs.”
Is it hard to balance family life and work life? Jared: Yes. Jensen: Let’s just say that’s it’s very imbalanced. Jared talks about how he was just talking with Chris about this and how it’s nice to go home and play with the kids and their chickens, etc. But he’s glad that his kids see how much Jared works and that his and Jensen’s success in this industry comes from that hard work and some sacrifices they have to make.
Jensen says it’s great Jared has chickens because it means he doesn’t have to get them now lol.
Jensen tells a story about when JJ was just a few months old, they were at Jensen’s in-laws house and he picked JJ up and started bouncing her above his head and she puked all over his face. Danneel comes in and was like, “Oh my gosh, don’t move!” She ran to get a camera lol.
Jared had a similar experience. Jensen: My daughter threw up all over his face, too! Jared said he was playing with the kids and Tom threw up on Jared. Said it was an interesting thing to experience having another human throw up on you but not being really grossed out by it because it was his kid. Jared also talks about how Jensen hasn’t been lucky enough to experience changing a diaper on a boy yet and how you risk getting peed on lol.
Jared to Jensen: I’ll give you some peepee teepees for the twins. Jensen: I have some. They’re bigger. Jared: Just slightly lmao
They’re only allowed 8 days to film each episode, but there are a few scenes that have taken a long time to get through. Jared and Taylor had a major giggle fest in “Provenance.” In the gag reel you can see Jensen in the background like, really?
They talk about Jensen’s incident with the fire that they talked about in the gold panel and how Jared laughed at Jensen’s reaction (link to the story in the gold summary: x)
Jensen’s go to reaction around famous people that he admires or is a fan of is to just run or walk away. For two reasons: he doesn’t know how he’s going to handle himself, and he doesn’t know how they’ll respond and he doesn’t want his view of them ruined. To preserve both of those things he avoids at all costs.
Jared doesn’t get that way with actors because they feel like his peers. He’s worked with some amazing actors and actresses, including Jensen. He does freak out with musicians, pretty infamously, when he’s around them. Jensen says that he has had to pull Jared from situations when he’s fanboying to prevent him from making an ass out of himself lol.
Jared is a researcher, wants to know everything about what he’s doing, just like Sam does. That’s something Jared and Sam have in common, that desire to learn, especially when they’re passionate about something.
Jensen on what’s similar between him and Dean: Awesomeness. Then Jensen says he tends to put others before himself a lot and Dean does the same thing.
Favorite part about filming in Canada? Jensen talks about how Sam and Dean tend to be layered in coats – wouldn’t work as well in Phoenix or anywhere south. So he appreciates the weather because it keeps them comfortable. Jensen loves the word “toque” that’s used in Canada.
Jared’s favorite thing about Canada is the news and how there can be something very serious going on the news, but the next segment will always be about hockey or something super positive that they spend more time on instead of the serious news lol. He and Jensen joke around about that.
The fan asking a question has a dodgeball (cosplaying as gym teacher Dean) and Jared asks about their aim. Gives her permission to hit him from where she’s standing. Ball hits him and when it bounces away Jensen snatches it up and nails Jared with it again lol.
If they could go back and relive one moment on set what would it be? Jensen answers for Jared: The day Genevieve Cortese walked on set. Jensen goes on to say that his favorite was when Gen was on set and Jared was sitting on the ground watching her in the cast chair. He wishes he could have taken a picture of that moment.
Jensen: “It was funny as hell to see this big kind of stud of a guy sitting there like a little puppy in love.”
Their life on set can be quite entertaining at times. Not only do they like to play the characters but they love the working environment. It allows for a lot of unique and fun moments.
Jared tells a story about a memory of having lunch with Jensen on set after Jensen invited him to go eat in this cool spot he knew of by the water during “Wendigo.” He remembers thinking, this is cool this should go on for a season or two. He also remembers when they had to jump into the water during “Dead in the Water” and then get into a hot tub because it was so cold. Moments like that make them go, man, this is cool!
Fan congratulates Jensen on the twins. Jared jokes around: “Haha Jensen on the twins.” Jensen: I don’t know what you’re laughing about, I’m gonna need your help. Jared says “yeah” and nods.
Jared said season four and six were a lot of fun. Jensen says season 1 was fun because it was new and they were still getting to know the show and each other and it laid the groundwork. He’ll always cherish that. Agrees with s4 and s6, includes s9.
Jared asks if the fans would be willing to watch the show for four more years and the crowd cheers.
On s15, Jensen: Yeah, well, you can come visit me in the rest home.
If a genie could grant them a wish what would they choose? Jensen: That the show never ends. Touches Jared’s shoulder. Jared: Sycophant!
Jared wants one wish: for everyone to find peace and happiness.
Gen and Jared talk with the boys and say that whatever makes them happy is what they will support them in.
Jensen wants a bigger boat. Jared: Bigger than what? Jensen: Than yours! Shenanigans and inside jokes start. Jensen: I love when he finishes my sentence before I even start my sentence.
The boys are asked to do an impersonation of each other. They decide to do an impersonation of each other doing impersonations of each other lol. Jared does his impersonation of Jensen doing an impersonation of him first. Jensen then does his impersonation of Jared doing an impersonation of him. Jensen shows off his butt while pretending to be Jared. Jared: My ass looks great! He then starts waving his own butt around lol so then Jensen smacks Jared’s ass!
Fan asks about a fight club with Team Sam and Team Dean. If they had to draft three people from Supernatural for their teams, who would they pick? Jared would take Mark Pellegrino. Jensen takes Ty Olssen. Jared picks Tahmoh. Fan calls out Misha. The boys laugh. Jensen: Let me tell you what would happen with Misha at a schoolyard picking teams – “Sorry dude, no more room.” They then impersonate Misha running from a fight.
The picking continues. Jensen would take Osric. Jared’s final choice, if Aleks Paunovic is off limits, is Sterling K. Brown. Jensen: I’m gonna bring in my ringer: Genevieve Padalecki. If not Genevieve he would take Cohen because he’s a good boxer.
For the three people they would least likely pick for a fight club they choose: Misha, DJ Qualls, – someone calls out Ruth but Jared says Ruth could take care of herself 🙂 – and Mark Sheppard or Chad Lindberg.
If he wasn’t a celebrity, Jensen wouldn’t miss the constant travelling if he wasn’t acting. Would miss the positive experiences they have had with the fans. They get interactions on an almost daily basis that are really cool.
Jared agrees with Jensen on all counts. Says he would miss being able to have the impact they have had on people’s lives as well as the impact on his own life. He would miss the experiences of fans coming up and having those positive interactions. He does say that he misses anonymity sometimes. Wants to be a face in the crowd again. There are still places he can go and be invisible- Jensen: To be honest, there’s not many places you can go and be invisible, giant. Jared: Could just be another tall guy in a crowd.
Jared: “I know y’all, y’all know me, we’re a happy family” apologizes for singing Barney lol.
They went to Austin City Limits last weekend and it was awesome and phenomenal. Jared remembers being there 14 years ago when he had just done a few episodes of Gilmore Girls, didn’t really get recognized.
Jensen says he would prefer if people come up and ask for pictures instead of taking them sneakily. Jared: I’ll stop! I’ll stop.
Jared starts trying to take a sneaky selfie with Jensen behind him. Shenanigans ensue with Rob even running out to take a sneaky pic. Jensen puts his phone in his front pocket and acts like he’s trying to take a sneaky video of Jared lol.
Last question: J2 battle mics again. Jensen backs out: I’m not entering that game. Fan: if you couldn’t be actors what would you be and why? Jared was enrolled into the University of Texas in Austin to be an engineer. He had hoped to go into medicine. His brother is a surgeon. He still would love to be a teacher. Jensen wants to be a long shoreman or pirate.
Jared’s pirate joke: Do you know what the pirate said on his 80th birthday? Aye, matey!
Jensen: Your one and only source for dad jokes, Jared Padalecki!
Richard calls out Jensen to tell his own pirate joke, makes him do comedy elbows lol.
Jensen: Everybody knows a pirate’s favorite letter. Crowd: R. Jensen: You think it’s R, but it’s the sea! Rob giggles. Jensen: Rob, don’t use that one.
Jensen doesn’t know what he would be when he grows up because he hopes to never grow up.
The boys hope the fans enjoy the season premiere this week and give their love.
