Gold Panel (v) (WM)

Jared has had a week off so came in late last night and heard the concert was cool. Someone shouts to Jensen, you were incredible. He replies "you weren't so bad yourself". Jensen tells Jared he wore the 'Sky rockets in flight' T-shirt from Anchorman.
Jared says they knew for months Kansas would be at SDCC, but couldn't say anything. It was nice in the green room. Jensen says he was starstruck.
Jared didn't know about the kegstand on Conan, and didn't want to say that when asked what they do on their birthdays, as they aren't allowed to. Jensen says the producer on the pre-interview asks what they want to say, Jensen says it's Jared's birthday so maybe acknowledge it with some sort of prank. Producer says do you have any ideas, and Jensen says I have a few, but you have a whole team of comedic writers there, I was thinking I'd throw the ball in your court. So Jensen had an interview and said what they do on birthdays, and they said, that's it, keg stand on National TV – do you think he'll go for it? Jensen said YES!
They thank fans for S13, and say due to actor contracts, they haven't been invited back for 14 yet, so push for it. Jensen they're trying out different options, maybe Maui.
Asking for your best jokes. Jared tells bad jokes (I can row, Canoe?) and then about pranking Tom because it's so easy. Tom asked for some specific food, and Jared pranked him.
Jensen: Jared is a bottomless pit of painful jokes. I'm more of a pun guy, which could be worse, but it's spur of the moment so I don't have anything ready to go.
For Jensen, how good is your beer and how can we get some? Jensen says his beer is phenomenal. We're not distributing outside Austin right now.
Jared: rules about selling alcohol are strict, but … you could take your own beer anywhere and randomly leave it somewhere and tweet about it as a scavanger hunt. Jensen says it’s too bad it’s the last year of GISHWHES. But seriously, you will be able to get it at his bar in the next couple of months. Jared: SanJac Saloon, as soon as it's available.

@FangasmSPN Where can you get @TheFamilyBeer ? At @jarpad's bar @SanJacSaloon of course. spnvan @JensenAckles
Ideas for Austin trip? Jensen: Airconditioning, go to the lake, south congress, eat some BBQ, it's really good down there. You won't have a problem finding things to do. Every night at sundown on Congress bridge, not sure of the number, but I think it's millions of bats fly out from under the bridge to go hunting.
Are you filming anything else?
Yes, I did it yesterday, “The Buddy Games” that is being directed by my buddy Josh Duhamel. Our schedules are pretty full, so the fact there was a role in my ONE day off this week, these past two weeks, so I did it, one scene and one day filming. But we can't do anything substantial. Deadpool 7 I'll be trying for that.
BMOL scene, when Roy and Walt showed up, Hi, you killed us, now… Jared, that was funny I love the hidden gems for fans that have seen every episode. Years of any story can get dreary, even Harry Potter 8 movies, 3 hours, it's hard to keep it exciting.
Filming side when the last scene of one episode continues into the first of the next, do you film them both together?
Jensen. No, it would be nice, and every now and again, we will try, like the first scene was continuing the last scene we filmed three months ago. They act out about how they came back after the summer and struggled to get back into their old wardrobe, breathe in really hard. Is there a larger size of these anywhere? Sometimes with the directors we have who trust each other, Phil and Bob, they might send a note about the scene. We often film the very last scene first. One season for 8 episodes in a row of season 8 or 9 we have a long talk about what happened and we hadn't shot any of it yet. Jensen often the interior of a house isn't ready yet for the first scene. Or if it's schools we have to start at 5pm Friday until 5am.
SCenes without any shenanigans? Jensen says the longest scene filmed without shenanigans was in Baby, when Sam and Dean were laying down talking about their lives, that was 5 pages of dialogue.
The Wayward Sisters? Jared: Thank God. He says that he understands SPN hinges on Sam and Dean, and to a lesser degree, Misha and Baby, but he’s a fan of whatever fleshes out other parts of the world, it's self serving because we get a day off, I understand it hinges on Sam and Dean but I like fleshing out other parts of the universe, we didn't go into it earlier with Bobby, as much as I'd have liked. Jensen I agree, they're good characters, they made them interesting and important, I'm super proud of them and to be in a place we can go down that road, it's super cool.
Admire your wives, wonderng if you had to sing a love song, what?
Jensen: Jared will take this one. He gets his phone out and plays “Fruit Salad” by The Wiggles.
Jared: “Just Breathe” by Pearl Jam, that song was playing when we first became parents, that and Fruit Salad..
Jensen: I don't know, I've played her many before, trying to think of maybe the last one, no it wasn't Fruit Salad, it was Cesar Salad, I remember the first one I played her, it was “If I Had Me a Million” by Pat Green. I'd build you a mansion, and dance in the hallways, .. the sea.. so anyway.

Jared and Jensen Main panel (v) (wmv) (storify by sil)
Jensen asks the crew to put their hands up and says the real heroes of the show are here.  Even when the story isn't about the brothers we have time off, Jared does, he flew in for this.  Even if both of us are not working, these guys keep the show running day in day out, it would not be possible without them, so thank you.
What other part would you play on SPN?   Jensen: the car, Jared: I played the Meg demon, but Charlie.  Jensen You're just a nerd.  Ruby, just kidding, one of my favorite female characters, because of the person who plays it, is Rowena.

Most fun episode to film?  Jared: I was able to film an episode where I was the husband to my real wife, and also the murder of my wife.  No, honestly most fun were two, The French Mistake and Changing Channels.  As far as making fun of ourselves, those.  Jensen, yea I like the ones where we do stuff out of the ordinary.  Baby, because it was so unique, it was a technical nightmare, but it was one of the best episodes we've done, so also, funny ones, Yellow Fever, where Dean can be comedic, so Regarding Dean.
What movie genre would youlike to do – fan wants JJM to do romcom.  Jared: I'd direct that!  Jensen You've never directed anything! THAT is the scenario – no, I can't pass up that opportunity.  Jared – I probably wouldn't do comedy, it's intimidating, I love what I'm doing now.   Escapism, Star Wars, other worlds or planets like Lord of the Rings, that sort of thing.  Jensen: I've said it before I'd love to do a Western… slash romcom with Misha.  You know what they say, give it to them in a way they don't expect it.  I just threw up a little bit.
Is there a place you've visited..?  Jared: Brazil.  When I went to Rome for the first time, I don't speak Italian so we went to these little restaurants where they ddin't speak English oso they'd bring food and motion that was good.  The only thing I know to do was to go (gesture) which to me emant good, but then I learned when I got home this means FU.  I was mortified, I was doing that several times a day.   Jensne jokes so now when he's out to dinner he does (middle finger).
Jensen: one of the most impactful travels I had was to Japan, for many reasons but it was such a different culture it was beautiful and made me appreciate the diversity of different cultures.
You and your characters: Jared I said this in my M&G.  Sam was never sure who he was, still searching and learning, and Jared was similar, people don't necessarily believe in themselves, I know actors who are a thousand times better than I am, a lot of people who work to make SPN, a hundred in Vancouver, and I feel a lot of responsibility, Sam accepted he had a role to play, and I've grown along with Sam, so thank you.  Jensen and Dean are both bow-legged.
Jensen: Truth, I guess I have a lot in common, but if I had to pick one I would say we share the same ultimate moral compass, I always feel like I have a desire to fight for the good and defend those who can't defend themselves.  I love that trait about Dean, he may not always go about it the best way, but his heart is always in the right place, and I feel I share that with him.
Showrunners –  how does a change affect your day to day work?  Jensen: It doesn't affect day to day, more the storylines and characters, we've been able to get a common denominator of quality, it's continued to stay true to itself, some seasons were better but overall it's stayed pretty consistent, that's a testament to Kripke all those years ago, a roadmap for the others to follow.
Jared: We lucked out, because Sam and Dean didn't exist before – superhero shows have to keep to the written characters, but Sam and Dean, (salmon dean, lol)  Sam and his older but shorter brother Dean, could make our characters, all the creators were thousands of miles away, they got to know Jensen and Jared at the same time as Sam and Dean, so we were integral to what the characters were. So… (all getting confused, Jensen laughs)  So, full circle all the showrunners knew who Sam and Dean were so day to day that didn't change.
Jensen: It'll be yes and no questions from now on.

I love your directing, will we see more in S13? Jensen: No, I opted not to this year to spend more time with my family, but I do hope to get the opportunity again in the future.
Where has Sam been keeping the amulet? Jared: wouldn't you like to know!  Jensen, (comedic reaction), Jared (jokes) butt of the joke, make an ass of ourselves. .. stop I gotta put a plug in this.
Jensen: this is the point where on set they call for a second meal.
Jared: rump roast?
Jensen; ahh it's probably in the trunk.  I need a water, right, moving on.
Worst nightmare role and would you do it?  Jensen –  I wouldn't want to play something like a heroin addict, like Christian Bale, where you have to lose so much weight, it would be bad for your health, or something that takes you somewhere mentally so bad, I'd be wary of going some place mentally that I wouldn't recover from, that scares me.
Jared: I wouldn't want to play a racist or sexist or misogynist or anti-LBGTQ, the only thing I have to offer is my own experience to humanise it, but I don't want to find that sort of inhumane person, I appreciate it, like Inglourious Basterds, but I'm not talented to pull it off. I can't tell those other stories, I can only tell my story.
If you got to write the next season what would happen to Sam and Dean?
Jensen: It would involve a very comfortable chair, and a nice view and a bottomless drink.
Jared: I wish this for everybody, but for the boys – I wish peace, which is why the boys have to die – not now, but I don't see them at peace, if people are in pain and getting hurt, it's sacrifice, I don't know, after the end, it would be who are they helping now?
Jensen: I don't think we've ever seen them at peace, there's a moment of peace, like the Christmas moments, there's a calm before the storm, they are always aware of something that's going to take the moment away, there's never a look of just we're done.  That would be a pretty special moment.
Is it harder to do VFX or SFX? Jensen: Visual used to be hard with green screen, imagining the world that will be put in later, did pose a bit of a challenge, but technology has advanced so much, all VFX are done in practical sets. Now it's more difficult to do practical effects, something to explode, human error, it takes time to reset if it goes wrong. Whereas Visual, yea, that's it, fix it in post.
Jared: gunshots are quite hard, they watch to see us move our hand, to blow it.
Questioner is on S4!  Like Dean and food scenes.  Jared: that was solong ago, Jensen: yes Dean goes on a diet at S17.  Do you get to choose what you eat or do they choose?
Jensne: somewhere in the middle, if what they describe in the script is truly disgusting, they try to make something I can eat.  The turducken, they brought in a food stylist, and created this .. thing!
She asked what you eat, adn I said I eat everything, but it wasn't meat based, but they did that for it to look gross, but I had to eat so much of it.  I was inhaling this burger, I had to eat six burgers that way, the problem is, if you take a bite at the end of the scene, you can spit it, but I was eating and then had dialogue and eat more, so I had to swallow it.  So eating six non-meat burgers in 3 hours, that was not a good day.
How about an Alice in Wonderland episode? Jensen: (gets his phone out and pretends to text) Let's find out!   I don't think we've ever done anything remotely like that.
Juju the rat in Alice in Wonderland?  OH, you should direct.  A show loosely based on Alice in Wonderland.
Multiple choice q:  Anti-possession tattoo: who has it?  A,B,C,D, Jensen, Jared, Sam or Dean?   Jared: C and D. (looking at his chest under his shirt)  Jensen, no Sam and Dean, S and D.  What are you looking at?  Jensen: We don't have those tattoos, our characters have them, so what's the right answer?
Last question: How would your younger selves, before SPN, react to the impact you've made on the world.
Jensen: Me personally I would not believe it, but I also woudn't believe the impact the world has had on me, meaning you guys, so pretty floored.  No way we would have predicted any of this, we're stillpinching ourselves.
Jared: I second that, we are two guys who wear makeup for a living, (Jensen: some more than others, I don't wear makeup) stuck up in Vancouver, which is a good place to be stuck, but it's all you (fans) that make the difference day in day out.

.@JensenAckles : we never dreamt you all would have such an impact on us. He wrote about that in Family Don't End With Blood
