You know something crazy? I just met Jason backstage, and he told me that we had met before at Jensen’s house, 15 years ago, at a party.

Oh yeah, I remember Jensen used to have parties at his house, and I used to go with some friends. And then I remember this weird conversation that I had with him because he had roommates. And they had parties like, every week. And I’d go occasionally. And he told me that he was moving out, because he didn’t want to have roommates anymore, he was going to go live alone, and I said, Oh, that's fantastic! Because I lived alone at that time and I said, I live alone, and what’s really fun is – you can wash dishes naked!
And Jason said, Yeah, he’s going to do that. And to remember that now, because of this conversation with Jason, is hysterical.

Jared: The youngest Dad on television.
JDM on being a young dad: You guys have aged a little bit, and I haven’t.
Jared: sorry I missed the concert last night, went to see Dear Evan Hansen. Jared says he got weepy during the first 20 minutes.
Jared says he and Jensen are mid ep 7, and JDM is episode 12. JDM: How did you know that?
Questions? How different would it have been if John came back instead of Mary?
Jared: Sam would’ve been angsty. He knew his Dad, but they had a difficult relationship, with a second chance he would have done it differently.
Jensen: when Amara said I'll give you what you want most..
Jared: straight legs
Jensen I'll keep my bow legs. I thought what Dean wanted most would be his father back. But in the end when we see Dean have the dream sequence, how he resented his mother, it all tied in and made sense, he needed to forgive his mother.
Talking about the bat, Jensen says do you know how that came about, one of our ADs made a Halloween costume as Negan, so I asked to see it and had to take a pic, and then the writers saw it and put it in the show. JDM: AMC can be kind of assholes about that, as the creators of TWD, but they loved it.
Jared is whispering to JDM: Shh, there are cameras out there lol.
JDM: AMC, who look after me so well..Ah I'm so fired, well that's the end of Negan, bring John back.
Question – J2 and Jeff on set, and the difference SPN and TWD.
Jared: I remember meeting Jeff, one day in the pilot we shot scenes the same day.
Jensen: fun fact, Jeff was younger than I am now when we shot season 1.
Jared talks about meeting JDM and how much he liked him but it was funny because Sam had a lot of anger towards John so Jared felt like he had to apologize to JDM.
Jared: It would be nice to have JDM back. When AMC fires him.
Jensen wanted to keep Jeff, and when the story ended he talked to Kripke about keeping him around. Kripke said it was about these two brothers and them also dealing with the loss of loved ones.
JDM: How awesome would it be to come back. We have all grown up and we're Dads now. I might be a better dad now. But I am super-blind and couldn't read postits on your forehead any more.
Jensen: Yes, we've told it but they haven't heard the story from you, actors get a guaranteed 12 hours off between days on a show, but if it's two different shows, that doesn't work.
JDM: I was filming Grey’s Anatomy and Supernatural at the same time.
JDM I couldn't memorise it all, they helped by wearing post-its.
JDM: I have 12 pages of dialogue tomorrow, a scene where no-one talks but me. Spoiler alert, Negan is alive!
Jared: That's my definition of a nightmare.
JDM: And they like their words to be said as is.
Jensen That's something we have established over the years, the writers think it's more of a suggestion, you can put it in your own words.
JDM: The writers trust you, they don't trust me, who am I supposed to hit, that's all I need to know.
Q: How do you feel about Castiel's death? JDM: the more dead the better.
Jenseen: Dean doesn't deal well with death, especially when they lost so much at once.
Jared: SPN allows the characters to lose people they love but also bring them back. It's a fun storyline to play. (you gave away a spoiler, he's not dead)
Q: do you think the bad luck is all those mirrors you broke in Bloody Mary.
Jensen: But that would have ended after 7 seasons. Oh you mean it compiles, one and then the next, so then we're screwed. But actually it was Sam who broke most of them.
JDM so quit breaking mirrors and the show might end before you are 97. Jensen: Supernatural: The Senior Years.
Jensen – voice became deeper over the years, how. Jensen says puberty, but in the first season he thought Dean would try to sound like his dad so he dropped his voice lower.
Jared: And then to be with Jensen, Mark Sheppard, Misha, I just have a normal voice! I'm like the soprano of the pack!
Jensen: They used me saying the tagline "hunting things saving people" for years, and I had to re-record it a few years ago.
Fan congratulates them on the new baby! Jared: is there something I don't know? JDM: Thank you. It all still works! Jensen: Gen's pregnant.
Music you'd like?
Jensen: some music is dictated, most is done in post by Phil Sgriccia, who is a music fanatic, he's done a great job. But it depends after shooting, what money is left over – music is expensive, so we don't have the budget for a lot of music we'd want.
Jared wants – The End by The Doors.
Talk about SDCC Kansas – JDM, I saw it.
Jared: We could never get Metallica, they don't like their music being used, it's not the money even.
Jensen: We finally were allowed to use Metallica Nothing Else Matters for the recap at Comic-Con and we were like, Metallica knows the show!
JDM says that Supernatural has the best music of any show. They make fun of Jeff being blind.
Q: Negan vs JDM.
Does John have the colt? You can't bring a bat to a gunfight. Negan’s background is he was a P.E. teacher. Jensen: Yeah, John was a marine.
JDM: But there’s a difference in mentality, Negan is crazy but John is like, I'll shake your hand before I kill you, so Negan might kick him in the balls first.
Jared: Tom Hanks in Saving Private Ryan was an English teacher.
JDM: Fun facts all round, English teacher, Jensen's voice dropped, Jensen: That's not all that dropped.

Eventually Jensen joined his ‘mom’ onstage to explain that JDM was still signing autographs, so his panel wasn’t going to happen.

Jensen: Was that who I thought it was?
Jared: A walk-by fathering, let's hear it for Jeffrey Dean.
Jensen takes the single chair and motions at the chair at the back of the stage, and says I put you over there, so Jared goes and sits there. Jensen then drags the chair, 'nobody puts baby in the corner'.
Jared: We're on episode 7?
Jensen: I don’t know. I checked out in season 2.
First question, how are the twins. Jensen: they're crawling now, no, not good. When they’re just there, you can walk away for a moment, now you can't. My little boy is much more adventurous than my little girl. If you do turn your back, he's gone… anyone got eyes on? Fireplace, he's in the fireplace! Not kidding, it's happened twice. Now it's got a baby gate.
Jared: Luckily it's Austin so the fire's not on.
Jensen: In fact we were just talking to our wives backstage, it's the one time of the convention day we sit and have lunch and check in with the boss. And they are together with the kids at the zoo.
It's pretty disgusting, sure, precious, same thing.
q: Im a teacher, and super-busy, I know you work long hours, how do you take care of yourselves, how do you juggle personal life and work?
Jensen: Thank you for what you do for the future of the world. Yes, it can be a delicate balancing act, we work away from home five days a week, sometimes 6 or 7 (now), fortunately we have very understanding wives, they're the rock it's all built on, to make it possible for us to do what we do.
It is tough, at least for me, if an opportunity presents itself to spend time with a friend or to do something, I try to seize those, keep it happy, be positive, life's too short.
Jared: be aggressive with your time off, (I'm here instead of doing lesson plans)
Jensen: oh Jared has a lesson plane he can give you, I think it's calculus.
Q: Fave seasons, or episodes most fun making.
Jensen: Baby, I've talked about that before, it's simply the different film-making. To switch it to that degree was exciting, completely new and different. The technical challenges were met and triumphed over by the crew.
Jared: Ghostfacers again so different from what we usually do, operating the cameras. Some of the episodes I enjoy watching … I didn't enjoy making The French Mistake, being myself and being funny made me anxious. I love the episode, its one of my favorites. Had a lot of fun in S4 (waves wedding ring).
Should the show go 2 more years? Or forever?
Jensen: Those are our only options?
Jensen on a spinoff: If it were to happen, it would have to be with characters that are relevant to the brothers and the show, in a way that would make sense to want to follow the story, so I think it would be exciting and fun. So if it were to go only two years, then he and I could always come back to the spin off, so selfishly I would love to have a spin off be successful.
Jared: I don't want the show to go forever, I'm a nerd myself I read 30 or 40 Star Wars books. I like fleshing the world out, I like scenes I'm not in.

Q: weirdest fan experiences? Jared this is going to sound like sucking up, but I love the fans, this show is so specific, fans always know me by my work. I've had some unique ones, on our honeymoon, we went to Bora Bora from Macchu Picu, our flight guy at the end says I rellay like your show, and have the tattoo. That was my first experience seeing somebody out "in the wild" with the tattoo.
Jared: And I was at, what's the golf place in Austin? Jensen: It’'s called a golf course.
Jared: Top Golf in Austin, and someone had a tattoo.
Jensen: By now nothing is weird, we work on a show called Supernatural, we work in the weird.
Last night I went to Starbucks before the concert last night, it was empty, late at night, super cool guy behind the counter black dreads, hip hop kind of guy who was NO NO WAY MAN. YO YO NO WAY MAN. This is Jensen Ackles! Supernatural, Red Hood, Dark Angel,… he read off my resume, the poor little girl by the coffee machine is looking at me, going I dont know who he is. Caught me off guard, I was not expecting that.
Jared: I was in Virginia in a bad-looking bar, and I see a burly bearded guy across the bar who stared and I'm like I'm going to die today! So I try to pretend not to look to see if he's looking at me. Sure enough, he walk over and I don't want to get beat up and KILLED! And he goes, hey were you on Gilmore Girls. So now I don't know what to say. And I hesitate and say yea, and he calls his friends over, yea, it's him!
Jensen: A few years ago in gishwes, late at night we were outside of Vancouver I left my charger, so went to a little shop to grab one, middle of nowhere, they were closing, I walk up to the counter and the girl looks up and says OH MY GOD turn around, and set up on some boxes was a big piece of plywood with my face made out of Skittles, a large portrait, amde out of taste the rainbow, imagine the confusion, that was odd. Her co-worker wasn't there so we ended up calling her and surprising her, an odd moment, but not weird.
Jared: That's how weird our lives is.
Q:If the Impala had never been created?
Jensen: Then neither would Sam and Dean. That backseat has got stories (both are cracking up).
What vehicle would Sam and Dean drive?
Jaredd: The Mystery Machine or a weird serial-killer van, because they have so much stuff.
Jensen: With no windows? What's in the back, probably bodies. You'd have to ask John Winchester.
Mini-van? I think of the billboard, ad "Daddy like" – no Daddy does not like. It would have to have a large trunk.
Jared: A hearse, for the dead bodies.
Jensen: a tank. Fan suggests something and Jensen says their weapons would be on display in the back.
Q: How would you survive on The Walking Dead, or turn into a zombie and have to fight, uh your dad.
OK I'll be playing the part of Dean, and/or Sam, this is how we survive. Jared's being a zombie and Jensen just keeps walking away slowly, Jensen finally pretends to shoot him and Jared drops. Jared: Yeah, we'd survive. Jensen: Yeah, we'd be fine.
Q: Fave food?
Jensen: snack? Not snacks, if it was your last meal, I'd probably go steak, but I wouldn't say no to a big bowl of pasta or hamburger. Real healthy choices.
Jared; Waldorf salad, Nicoise, have y'all seen bedazzled, it's so funny.
Q: what character Jensen would play on Gilmore Girls? Can be a new character too.
Jensen: Sooki! (Jared says Sookie because Jensen is funny. Then says maybe Kirk.) I can't name a character and I'm proud to say that, so I'll go with one of the Girls. Is Rory a guy or a girl, sure, Rory.
Jared acts sick.
Jensen: is that the one he makes out with? So, we'd probably still be on.
Jared: thanks for that awful awful visual, I need a shower.
Q: I have a daughter called Jensen – Jensen: I hope it serves you as well as it has served me.
Q: So how should it end? Jared: They have to die. If they aren’t dead, they should be hunting. If they are hunting, he wants to see it on TV.
Jensen: A white picket fence, then boom! There’s no happy ending for Sam and Dean. “Their happy ending will be going out doing what they love.”
Q: Do you dream in character, and is it a nightmare or fun? Jensen: Depends what Dean's doing I guess. well, no I don't however sometimes I dream I'm in a situation on the show, the one recurring dream I have, that is a nightmare, an apocalypse is happening disease, zombies, whatever, everything is going to hell in a handbasket and I'm trying to save as many people as I can, literally I carry people, I don't know what that means, so it feels like something Dean might experience.
Q: If it hand't been such a catastrophe, what would Cas and Sam and Dean done to raise Jack?
Jensen: Two men, and angel, and a baby?
Jared: Tune in and find out.
Jensen: Yea, you will get to see that. I thought they could have gone comedic a bit – Toys r Us, Dean either having way too much fun, testing the toys, or kids screaming and Dean wanting to kill himself.
Q: What inspires your charity work?
Jared: We had a really cool opportunity to see what amazing things this family does, it's inspiring to see the love there is so much pain, natural disasters, there is a big need, and y'all are the ones who are doing it, we're just putting the message out.
Jensen: To get motivated every day it's not that hard if you look around and see how much inspiration is out there, this, (con) is fuel for us, waking up to be philanthropic is fuelled by my children, I want a better world for them whenthey grow up, and the lives of people we connect with is inspirational. My grandmother would say to me when she hugged me goodbye "my cup runneth over", and I feel like that, you have bad days you don't want to get out of bed, you're tired, but look around and find the reasons, it's there, it really is, I believe that.
Q: Languages?
Jared: I took three years of Latin in high school. He heard it would help you for the SAT. Spanish too.
Jensen: I did not take Latin, if you listen to Dean's exorcism's it's clear, which is why they give most of the exorcisms to Sam. We have a language coach who makes a recording and we are parrots, and there's the reason we do that, make sure we get it right, so thank you for policing us.
Mental health question. Jared corrects a fan from saying “suffering” to “dealing with” mental illness. Jared says congratulations on your fight, and I seek professional help, I don't have bad days like I used to, becasue I stayed on top of it, talk to someone twice a week.
You have to be aggressive about reaching out for help even amongst friends there’s no shame in it.
Last question – Jason comes over to tell them: Fan has an AKF music playlist, what song they would add.
Jared says “Just Breathe” by Pearl Jam, the first song he listened to after Tom was born.
Jensen is off talking to the band, trying to get them to play it and is called back.
So there's a lot, but one that always lifts my spirits is The Outfield, Your love, but they're not going to play it.
