Happy 100th con!
J2 were filming until 2am yesterday.
Jensen: It was me, Jared, Clif, and JJ at the Natural History Museum yesterday. JJ was like, will you carry me? I said no, but Uncle Jared will 🙂
Jared is thrilled because his shirt has pockets! (Seems he needed one of his own after falling in love with Jensen’s shirt pockets lol).
Jared: I’m getting questions now like how are babies made… Jensen: And it’s, go ask Uncle Jensen.
Jensen on when Arrow and Zepp were both saying I love you: This must be what heaven feels like.
Genevieve sent Jared a cute video of her and Odette yesterday and Jared is looking for it on his phone.
Jared: We both romanticized about cutting our hair during the writers strike (in season 3) and he did it. I didn’t because it was winter!
Jensen: I think I have cut Jared’s hair.
Jared: The Impala we destroyed in season 1 was the wrecked one in “The End.”
Jared: Yes, I have some ideas for tattoos. But Jensen can attest it takes a while to cover up.
Jensen has more tattoos planned out.
Jared shows the video of Gen and Odette.
Jared talks about the train story after a fan asks if Gen got her bag back, says Richard has a pic of him standing next to the broken train stopper.
Jensen did 9 hours of the fight scene in Cain’s kitchen with no stunt double because that’s who he was fighting.
The boys talked about working with their wives.
Jensen: Yeah, we’d need somebody to watch the kids. Half the crowd: I’LL DO IT I VOLUNTEER! Jared: So nobody?
Jared to fan: If you’re an older sibling like Dean is, you’re a great big sister.
Jensen: I thought Dean would need his dad more, but realized he needed to have the confrontation with his mom to heal.

Boys jump onstage!
J2 playing footsies. Jared sitting backward as usual 😛
Jared laments that there is nothing on his chair to put his feet on when he sits on it backward. Jensen throws his head back and laughs maniacally.
Jared talks about his cozy shoes that Jensen makes fun of. Jensen: “You’ll notice the 8-inch sole underneath his feet.” Boys pause, start to smile. Jensen, starting to laugh: “Nope, it’s too early.”
How would S12 have been different if John had come back instead of Mary? Jensen opens his answer with “I think if and when Jeff comes back…”
Jensen had a convo with Hilarie (JDM’s wife) last night, and she says “Yes, he will!” about JDM coming back.
Jared: I thought John went to The Walking Dead to kill Lauren Cohan (Bela) for messing with his kids!!
Jensen thinks if Dad came back, there would be more of a power struggle, because the boys have gotten used to running the show for so many years and would no longer follow Dad like he would expect.
Fan asks about how their kids regarding their jobs. Jared says that his kids are too young to really understand. “Tom and Shep know Uncle Jensen is on TV with Daddy.” But Jared has a 10-year-old niece who asked him, “Uncle Jared, why do all my teachers ask if I know you?”
Jensen was dropping off JJ the other day and there’s a security guard (Jensen’s first time meeting him) at the door and he asked Jensen with his hand on his belt, “You’re not packing are you, Dean?”
How do you conquer stage fright? Jensen: Finding a way to get comfortable with that is different for everyone. What helps us is we are totally blinded up here by those two lights.
Jensen I don’t think it’s easy for anybody to get on stage & talk & getting past that is different for everyone. Whether it’s trick of picturing everyone naked…I don’t think that ever works… Jared: *starts giggling* Jensen: He does that walking down the street.
Jared realizes it’s not up to him to control how people see him. There’s nothing he can do to change if someone wants to dislike him or what he says on stage, it’s just his job to go up & give himself & be himself without letting what others think of him so him. “It’s not my job to control what other people think of me.”
Jared: The most nerve-wracking season to shoot was playing Sam playing Jared playing Sam.
Jared loved shooting the scene where they carve initials in the table
The scene where they carve their initials into the table in the Bunker felt oddly real to Jared because they were discussing what their characters’ legacy would be & it felt like he & Jensen were confronting the end of the show & what that would mean for them.
Jensen loves the moments that occur when he’s filming like: doing a reverse 180 in Baby. Jensen also loved trying to make Briana laugh while shoving donuts in his face.
Jensen doesn’t have favorite scenes or episodes or seasons as much as favorite moments that resonate with him and that the memories of filming those moments feel special.
Jensen on directing: I love telling him [Jared] what to do 😛
Jensen’s favorite thing about being a director is the first day of prepping for the episode when you get together with the whole crew and begin to think through how you’re going to do every aspect. “Directing is like being the captain of a problem-solving squad.”
Fan asked Jared who is inspirational to him. Jensen grins at Jared, waiting for him to say it’s him lol. And he does. He explains how he has known and worked with Jensen “for the majority of my days and nights” for 10 years. Jared asks fans to remember that when they thank him for AKF, Jensen had influenced him for 10 years before Jared felt comfortable enough to open up about his struggles. He then asked for applause for Jensen. Jensen gave Jared a big appreciative shoulder pat, and Jared responded with a pat on Jensen’s leg.
Jared also says that Gen is amazing.
Jared to fan: Continue to be inspired by everyone around you and life will be good.
Fan: Ideal fight scene? Jensen: I’LL TELL YOU WHAT IT WON’T LOOK LIKE, THAT LAST SCENE IN S13. US DANGLING FROM CEILING LIKE MARIONETTES. IT LOOKED LIKE TEAM AMERICA lol. “Like a damn puppet show.”
Jared is more interested in why people fight than in actual fights. He wants to know what makes people tick. Jensen: So let me get this straight. Instead of explosions and action in the fight, you want Inside the Actor’s Studio?
Jared likes to read non-fiction books and is a big UFC fan.
Jared loved the scene in “Hammer of the Gods” when Lucifer and Gabriel were talking about growing up together.
Jensen: What’s the capital of New York? Jared: Old York? Shout out to Albany and some shoulder grabbing 😛
New funniest behind the scenes moments? Jared: “The hazing of Alex has gone way too far and will continue to go on.” Jensen: “Every time he hits the floor, it’s like asking for a doggy pile.”
Jack’s vessel is having challenges. He collapses a few times and that’s a green light for a dog pile. Alex isn’t a big guy and they are. Misha is so excited to be on J2′s side lol.
Jared: My goal for this season? A 2-hour gag reel
Fan: My name is Emily, too. Jared: Emily2, that’s a strange name. How do you spell that? Jensen starts offering possible spellings.
Jared: My guilty pleasure song is “Baby Shark.” Jensen: Well I’m embarrassed for you
Jared says a lot of his guilty pleasures are songs from the 80s and 90s.
Jensen said JJ loves “Fight Song.” Jensen plays “Fight Song” in the car even if JJ isn’t in there.
Jared asks fan what her guilty pleasure song is. She says “Africa” by Toto. Jared: What about “Rosanna” by Toto?
Jared just yelled “GET HER GET HER” because a fan talked about the show ending lol
Jared: says that he wants to back away from acting after spn. Jensen says to ask them when or if the show starts slowing down.
Jared says that after spn his dream job would be not to have a regular set job, but to take on smaller projects when a buddy calls or emails him asking him to do a role. He tells the story of how Tom Welling did this with him on Cheaper By the Dozen. He called Jared to swing by and play the small part of the bully in the movie because Tom wanted the bully character to be taller than him.
Jared says he hopes “this cat [Jensen] keeps acting.”
Fan asks about the best horror film they’ve seen and if any fears were spawned from them. Jared says if he went to a hotel that seemed abandoned, like in The Shining, he would put his family in the car and drive away.
J2 both say that The Strangers freaked them out. Jensen expects to see a masked person standing in the pool of light in his yard, which was a fear that came from The Strangers. Jensen: “That would send me into a frenzy. And by that I mean that would send me to my gun safe.”
While watching Monday Night Football, he realized that if like The Purge was happening, he wouldn’t know whether he would go to his children’s room first or go to the closet to grab a weapon and hope they wouldn’t beat him to the room. That is his biggest fear.
Gen has Jared check all the doors and windows in the house before going to bed.
Jared: We have cameras around my house & they send me alerts. So once he got an alert that there was movement sensed in the front yard when he was at home in Austin around “midnight thirty” and he’s like, DO I WANNA LOOK?
Fan: I just want to say you’re both absolutely brilliant Jensen: Actually, I didn’t do that well on my SATs.
Fan compliments Jared on his non-verbal way of expressing Sam’s trauma when he’s around Lucifer.
Jared: I’m very protective of my buddy Sam and he is of Dean. I did research on PTSD to figure out Sam and Lucifer.
Spoiler alert: Jensen: When Dean becomes Dean again in true Dean fashion he’s greatly affected but doesn’t wanna talk about it but it’ll rear its ugly head later in the season.
Jensen just called Jared JA-ROD 😛
Last question fan is nervous. Jensen jokes that this is like three times as big as the usual crowd, then tells us the fan replied to him, "I’M NOT NERVOUS BECAUSE OF THE CROWD, I’M NERVOUS BECAUSE OF YOU GUYS.” Super relatable.
They brought out a cake to celebrate the 100th convention and Chris Schmelke. Chris shares a few sweet words about meeting J2 and everyone else and how he wouldn’t be there without their love and support and the fans 🙂 Jared says some kind words about Chris and gives him a gift from everyone.
Fist bump, whispers and laughter, butt slaps and chest pats end the panel 🙂
